The Islamic Burial rites of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba II, GCON, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, today at his Ijebu Ode residence.

RECALL: The Awujalẹ initiated a bill titled “State Traditional Rulers (Installation and Burial Rites) Bill 2020” that was sent to the house of assembly, the assembly passed the bill, and Governor Dapo Abiodun signed it into law.

“Of course this is without prejudice to traditional rites that is meant to be performed by the customary, but it clarifies and removes any ambiguity about the fact that the families of our Kabiyesis (monarch) now have a say in how they want our royal fathers to be buried and I think this is very laudable” - Governor @DapoAbiodunCON (Jan 2022)

Today, I joined others in paying my last respects to His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland.

His presence anchored the community for generations, and his legacy will continue to guide it. Although Oba Adetona’s passing is a great loss, the values he championed live on.

My sincere condolences go to Governor Dapo Abiodun, the royal family, and the people of Ijebuland and Ogun State.

You see the way Yoruba practice religion. Gbenga Daniel, Pastor Prof Osinbajo, Usher SanwoOlu inside mosque and relaxed, honouring the passed traditional ruler.

Yoruba is the most peaceful tribe in the world.

This one na still bobo. The traditional burial rites, especially for a first class king, most importantly an Awujale cannot be toyed with.
What they have in that casket would most likely be a dummy.
Those traditional people noor dey joke ooo

But how will the burial of such a revered king be so open? And was he a Muslim or a traditional ruler ? Why Islamic way of burial ? No sacredness ?

Na why I like Benin traditional way of doings things. Even Ife too.
