Racoon:I never liked this show as a child and this is me that absolutely love cartoons. I prefered the superheroes. I barely tolerated Barney and friends too. I downright hated teletubbies. |

There's this other one I missed so much we call it baby rubber. They're of only 2 characters, 1 white doll n 1black doll like that(I mean humans wearing a big doll like a dog or something) They don't speak nor say anything but only act and there acting always goes with a sound like that that made it more funny. It's mostly shown on kwara TV here in kwara then |

When Television and most importantly NTA was fun even without "cable" tv. Just ur regular tv antenna atop the TV or your fluorescent invented antenna was enough to give u access to multiple local stations. Weekends were fun for families and children especially. Sesame street was only enjoyable because of it was educational but those action cartoons were what some of us looked forward to. SuperTed, Voltron, Birdman, Muppet Babies, Fragle Rocks, Chuckle Hounds (I used to find this boring then because they didn't speak), Jimbo. Weekends were goated because of those German sports games Telematch and then other non cartoon shows like Rentaghost(They pressed their noses to disappear wasn't cartoon though) and Tales by Moonlight |

1980s. NTA Kaduna would start showing sesame street at 4 pm. Would sit and watch till 5 pm, then playtime or homework. Sadly by 1993, they stopped showing the program. Also most of the episodes they showed then we're from the early 1980s..up to 1983. Nothing later than that. If you wanted more recent versions , you have to have access to.a.VHS recording. Nowadays, cable has displaced regular tv. And since the street was taken over by HBO, I doubt that anyone trying to show it in Nigeria would be able to afford the cost. Also in a way kids tv has moved on. Too many options. In 1987, the idea of a kids channel was foreign to this country, now we have several of them. Still, classic sesame street is available on YouTube. Episodes from the 1970s and 80s. Including the first ever episode from 1969. When Gordon had hair! |

Mynd44:Watching this Sesame Street in the early 90s, I never really understood what the fuss was about too as I also preferred cartoons to any other type of children's TV programme. However, I loved Barney and Friends. Certainly hated Teletubbies when the TV Africa that was syndicated on different private TV stations in Nigeria and Africa, used it to replace other cartoons that had previously been scheduled for that time slot in the afternoon. Now that I am older and with kids of my own, I realise that Teletubbies was introduced into their programming schedule to cater for toddlers and preschoolers. |

It was popular then here in Abuja, every Saturday 4pm. though I never really liked it, just using it to while away time till another program begins on NTA. I preferred Voltron, Power Rangers , and Tom & Jerry . |

Mynd44:Barney was really hated back in the day, to the point that there were online screeds against the purple dinosaur, and even an online fictional story called Day of the Barney.( Basically , Barney takes over the world and gets rid of the adults and anyone over 12. And there is a lot of awful stuff as well , that's the synopsis) As for teletubbies, whoever greenlit that idea deserves to be sacked and stripped of their pensions. |

xristos:Those robot ZEROS are from a 3D animation TV programme known as TERRAHAWKS...that witch, Zelda, always shows them shege when she looks into her crystal ball...lol... Sesame Street was shown on NTA Yola by 4pm every single day. NTA also aired other children programmes or cartoons like: JAMES BOND JUNIOR, LEO THE LION, BIONIC SIX, VOLTRON, CAPTAIN PLANET, FRAGGLES ON THE ROCK, THE MUPPET SHOW, etc. ...And one cartoon like that in which the main character wears a cowboy hat. He transforms whenever he encounters challenges by imagining things..then his eye glow for a second. The character also has a horse that can also transform by standing on its rear legs...never got the name of the cartoon, even till now.. Saturdays were for TELEMATCH, Saturday matinee, and the likes... Chaiii....the good old days... |

Most of the original cast members have passed on. The programs have evolved in diversity to lean in LGBTQ issues and lately the Trump administration has moved to cut funding to the PBS which includes icons such as VOA - Voice of America. Can we all say an adieu.... |
