The Conspiracy Theory That President Buhari Died In 2017 by hassinho707(op):
I've noticed a fascinating phenomenon that I'd like to share with you. Many of my Igbo brothers and sisters believe that former President Buhari passed away in 2017 and was replaced by a lookalike. This claim seems to have gained traction, especially among some Igbo communities. I recall 2017, when some individuals demanded that the president prove he was alive.

As a serving NYSC member at the time, I tried to reason with my colleagues from Eastern Nigeria that it's highly unlikely for a country's leader to die and be replaced without anyone noticing. After all, prominent figures like Senator Bukola Saraki was the Senate President, former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, Gov. Wike, Gov. Ayo Fayose, and Femi Fani-Kayode were all critical of President Buhari during his tenure. If such a significant event had occurred, wouldn't they have spoken out?

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who campaigned alongside President Buhari, would likely have been aware of any such replacement. Other notable leaders, including Ibrahim Babangida and Yakubu Gowon, knew President Buhari and would have likely commented on any discrepancies. President Buhari's family, including his wife, children, and extended family members, would also have been aware if he had been replaced.

Moreover, if President Buhari had indeed died in 2017, it's puzzling that he would still contest the 2019 presidential election against Atiku Abubakar, with Peter Obi as Atiku's running mate. One would expect Atiku and Peter Obi to raise concerns about the authenticity of their opponent if they truly believed he was an impostor. However, they didn't, which adds to the implausibility of the claim.

What's interesting is that many Igbo people, regardless of their educational background, still believe this claim. I've seen numerous online discussions and social media posts with thousands of comments and likes, with many individuals convinced that President Buhari died in 2017. It's intriguing to see how easily misinformation can spread, and I'd love to understand the underlying reasons.

I'm particularly curious about how Nnamdi Kanu's claims may have influenced some Igbo people's beliefs. It's surprising to see how easily some educated individuals can be convinced of something that seems implausible to others. Let's discuss this further and explore ways to promote critical thinking and media literacy.

When a people become too emotional, they naturally suspended their ability to think logically. This is a general life fact!

Nnamdi Kanu said that Buhari kicked the bucket in 2017 or so. in 2021, the same Kanu wrote a letter to Biden, telling him not to sell military arms to Buhari. One would've thought that he would call him Jubril (or whatever he usually called him) in that letter.

Here's the link to it.

Kanu is a man who understands that his followers are largely emotional and extremely though.tless. That's why he cooks up things from time to time to keep them excited and engaged.

Believe what you want to believe, Let others believe theirs. There are so many of those people who believed what Nnamdi was saying about Buhari dying in 2017 that have far more natural IQ than you writing this here claiming being of superior in terms of intelligence. You can't judge people in this type of things of doubt. Those who doubt and believe intermittently are regarded as sharp minds. I know at a stage you yourself was trying to believe that, didn't you? Don't lie. Till today the circumstances surounding Buhari still suggests that, even as we do not believe that

Who was the person buried in Daura where prominent people from Nigeria and outside Nigeria attended? Even Peter Obi was there to pay his last respects. The President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria were there.

The moment I discover that someone believes that Buhari died in 2017 and was replaced by a lookalike, I automatically consider such fellow unintelligent.

Why didn't the federal government add what Kanu said about buhari's death among the count charges they leveled against Kanu in court?
Why was Aisha (buhari's wife) and children silent all these while accept recently they buried something in daura?

I have seen people who hid the news of their dead relative for the sake of something or for reasons best known to them. These things happen especially when there is something they want to achieve.
