LG Crisis: Adeleke Wept For 15 Minutes In Our Meeting — Osun Commissioner by press9jatv(op): 7:02am On Jul 17, 2025
Amid the deepening crisis surrounding control of local governments in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke reportedly broke down in tears during a cabinet meeting held last weekend.

According to Hon. Dipo Eluwole, the state’s Commissioner for Education, the governor wept uncontrollably for about fifteen minutes and was unable to begin the meeting until he was consoled.

Eluwole made this revelation while speaking at a Digital Literacy Training for teachers in Ede, Osun State.

The Nation recalls that tension erupted after the Appeal Court reinstated sacked All Progressives Congress (APC) council executives, a decision the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) strongly opposed.

The fallout has led to the federal government withholding local government allocations since February 2025, creating financial strain across the state.

Eluwole lamented the disruption the crisis has caused, noting that Osun State previously enjoyed peace and development before the recent political turmoil. “There was peace before, but with what is going on now—the wrangling—I didn’t sleep until 2AM. I left the Government House at 11PM and kept making calls till morning. There is a serious problem at hand,” he said.

The commissioner urged citizens to pray for Governor Adeleke, stating, “God will guide his feet from stumbling; he will not lead us astray.” He also recounted how a traditional ruler recently shed tears over the deteriorating state of affairs.

“On Saturday, Mr Governor wept for 15minutes before he could start a meeting, 15 minutes! They were pacifying him, where is Nigeria going? It is not a sin to be a Nigerian.

“We know what has been happening before about three years ago in the education sector, you can see what is going on now, Osun state education is to be reckoned with today, we are making Nigeria proud unlike before where it was vandalism, hooliganism, raping, cultism…all are the things of the past in our schools.”

He continued, “Are you talking of infrastructure, If not for what is happening since February till now we would have seen many provisions in the school now, it is in the pipeline.

“The money we are supposed to be using for these things is what we are using to pay primary school teachers, local government workers, health workers and 5% to traditional rulers, everybody is taking their money as at when due. That is why we don’t have more teachers in schools, let us pray for Osun State and our governor, he meant good for the state.”

2nd term looking bleak. Fighting federal might n money with a pdp structure that has been heavily compromised and dissipated won't be easy.
His best option is to settle for a soft landing in APC who will deploy all federal resources to win thier president's home state.

I don't think it was public.

What is more unprofessional though is for a Commissioner to be disclosing a Governor's private moment in public.

Adults must be able to keep their mouths shut about certain things.

He goofed too many times on politics. When the court upheld the the swearing in of the yes/no local government chairmen he met after his victory to become a governor, he wasn't satisfied. He wasn't patient to let them complete their tenure, then he went ahead to conduct his own election, and his party swept all local government seats. The incumbent ones went to court again, and the court still validated their election to complete their tenure, but the governor still wouldn't agree. Along the line, theocal government allocations have increased by far, and these yes/no chairmen are eyeing the money to get good pay, but it led to chaos that even caused deaths, closure of local govt secretariats. Right now, the federal govt has frozen their allocation for about 3 to 5 months now if I'm not mistaken. That's huge. He played into the big politicians' hands. He has submitted to their will. He will join the ruling party, and the cry of 15 minutes if you ask me is part of the game. They just taught him politics too. Dino broke his own neck, same as Fayose. Twas all charade. So, Adeleke, welcome to Naija politics. It's not your mate.

He's just playing to the gallery. You're decamping to the APC imminently, and you're shedding tears that the same APC is taking over the LGAs. Or you want those you met at the party to vacate completely for you and your supporters so they can reap where they didn't sow?

When the judiciary is now for the highest bidder, no hope for Nigeria with with the way APC baths and breathes with lies, corruption and impunity.

These people don't even have a simple conscience for the people that are suffering,. Once it is not their way, they don't care, they are after grasping all the power.
