Inflation Drops To 22.22% In June - NBS by Infoguy666(op): 3:20am On Jul 17, 2025
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday said inflation rate reduced to 22.22 per cent in June 2025 from 22.97 per cent in May 2025, Daily Watch Nigeria reports.

This was contained in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) JUNE 2025 report the Bureau issued from Abuja.

According to the report, the CPI rose to 123.4 in the period under review, reflecting a 2.0-point increase from the preceding month (121.4).

NBS said, “In June 2025, the Headline inflation rate eased to 22.22% relative to the May 2025 headline inflation rate of 22.97%.”

The report added that looking at the movement, the June 2025 Headline inflation rate showed a decrease of 0.76% compared to the May 2025 headline inflation rate.

On a year-on-year basis, the report said, the headline inflation rate was 11.97% lower than the rate recorded in June 2024 (34.19%).

NBS said this shows that the headline inflation rate (year-on-year basis) decreased in June 2025 compared to the same month in the preceding year (i.e., June 2024), though with a different base year, November 2009 = 100.

It further said on a month-on-month basis, the Headline inflation rate in June 2025 was 1.68%, which was 0.15% higher than the rate recorded in May 2025 (1.53%).

NBS said this means that in June 2025, the rate of increase in the average price level was higher than the rate of increase in the average price level in May 2025.

You mean inflation in Aso rock went down. All this negligible drops won't have any effect on prices out there.
Logistics cost is extremely high (, gov, tax, fuel, etc) food is high(insecurities etc), imports are expensive (import duty, dollar rate, logistics).
Even the rice they were celebrating Bua and Dangote crashed the price is back to 80k and above per bag.
So where's is the drop on the economy?

What's the different between Nigeria leaders and followers?

When the rice was at 60k per bag. Nah same quantity wey dem sell for us when rice was 90+ per bag, dem dey sell us. Those of us that eat food(cooked) outside can relate.

We all need to change our mindset. No be only leaders bad.

It was 24 before President Tinubu took over, if you are now telling me that it has dropped to 22 then something is wrong with the statistics you churned out.

I posted it here back in September last year that inflation will drop due to slow economic activity and APC will take credit: https://www.nairaland.com/8215654/heads-up-nigerias-inflation-drop

Whenever purchasing power drops over a long period, inflation reduces temporarily.

It’s a bad situation but APC will try to claim that it is as a result of audio reforms

I mean it only dropped from 22.97% to 22.22% so the average person will unfortunately not see any impact on their day to day lives, and that’s shanking we trust the numbers anyway.

This means prices still increased 22:22% a month, that’s massive and unsustainable, no one is getting a pay increase of 22% a year not to talk of monthly.
