Eze street and ezie street were changed to Yoruba names.

Is this not tribal hatred?
All this will be over in no distant time!!!

Those jumping on this thread and dropping comments based on warped conceptions should have a rethink. Until I know the facts behind the street renaming, I will remain neutral. My two pence comment.

Seyi tinubu wife's mother is Igbo from Anambra state.

She's going to be the first lady of lagos soon. When that time comes , you will surely bow to her and call her "First Lady."

Liyel Chinwe tinubu will be first lady of lagos over your mother's, sisters and girlfriends in this lagos. grin
This is a bit of a stupid writeup. As an Igbo man, you should be annoyed that most of your higher quality women are choosing to marry outside their ethnicity. You would never see Fulanis brag with something like this because it is an affront on the males of a group if their females are choosing to marry people of another group.

PBAT & Governor Sanwolu would be setting one of the worst precedence with this singular act.

It should be condemned in all ramification and it is definately in bad taste with a tribal bias.

All this division started after Peter Obi won the Presidential Elections in Lagos !

Haba ! I am a Yoruba Lagosian, over 80% of my friends are Igbo's and we never lived like this in Lagos State.

3/4 of the commercial activities and SMEs in Lagos as at today is promoted by the Igbo's being commerce centred. We lived as brothers through decades.

Let Government know that the seeds we sow today will germinate for lifetime.

The last LG Elections also showed same pattern with threats and bully of the S/E people with tearing of LP posters in Amuwo Odofin.

We are not like this in Lagos and politicians should not divide us !
First off, you are posting disinformation here with your innuendos and political correctness. Your so-called estimate of 3/4 commerce in Lagos State adduced to those people is subjective and has NO basis. Several ethnic groups from the Yorubas, to the Hausas, to the Edos, etc, quietly engage in interstate and intrastate commerce in Lagos without pomposities or exaggerations from the several markets around Lagos State and the entire Yorubaland in both wholesale and retail so what are you on about falsely claiming that 75% of commerce is done by just one tribe.

Second, that change of street names was done several months ago in 2024 by the local authorities NOT the state Government and I remember the story hit the NL front page. So this OP posted a recycled story from last year! The Local Governments in Nigeria have the constitutional right to change the names of streets in their domains at ANY time as that is within their purview. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. I can even see Daddy Showkey's name among the freshly renamed streets. Daddy Showkey is from Delta State and an Isoko by ethnicity and I saw a Yoruba street name that was renamed from the old to the new street in the screenshot.

People must be guided about bringing up primordial sentiments like this to stir up needless problems in the public domain. The newly signed Cyber Crime Law is very active so ignorance of the law is NOT an excuse. Period.

Funny people. Instead of thinking how to defeat the north with ATIKU as new coalition/ northern leader, you are busy plotting against lgbos.

Nigeria did that for 50yrs with no result

My brother I am man and with this your comment I will say I love you "no homo".
I have said this time without number.
I'm an Igbo guy but born and brought up in Lagos. 60% of my friends are Yoruba and we live without rancour. Each and everyone of us on here do business and commercial activities with different people from different tribe.
Do we ask them if you're from this and that place before we do business, so it irks me when we tribalism everything on this forum.
I don't blame them sha, it's the politicians like the post above that's causing it. May God see us thru in this country

Hatred. But leave them. Very soon, the western ( Europe and America) will use same against them. They forgot the number of Yoruba people holding key positions in foreign countries. Kemi Badehnock is a yoruba lady but a member of parliament in the UK. Canada has stopped admitting ex police officers from Nigeria into their country, very soon it will spread to all western countries. This ethnic bigotry will equally resonate in Europe soon.

I grew up here. This is messed up. Imagine renaming popular streets like Mba and Achakpo because of tribal sentiments. Just terrible.
I hope this thing is reversed and the people responsible sacked.

Naming of streets is a Local Government function. It has nothing to do with the governor or president.

If Lagos and yorubas were not too triabilistic, the fmr name registras will take them to court.. not seeking compensation but seek a reversal...

Cuz it was registered under state laws and binding...

There should be prove beyond doubt as to how this new names will better affect the general well being of that community....

Them the court can site ethnic targeting... But in Naija ethnicized prefer rule over even the law...

Trust me if it were in the south east.. a Yoruba man who files will get it overturned...

Re: Ajeromi Ifelodun LG Renames Many Streets (Before & After) by Kalulu44: 3:11pm On Jul 17, 2025
The funny part of this is that, some of the name of those streets has sticked that it will take years for them to be erase from the memories of the residents.
For example I am very sure people will still be calling Mba street, Achakpo street and Uzor street cus those names has really stucked with the resident and it will take years for them to start calling the new names.
Another example of what I am trying to say is:
There's a bus stop along Iyana Iba to Okoko which is Cassidy before Okoko bus stop.
The name of that bus stop was giving to a whiteman company named Cassidy that was located there back in 1988. Around mid 2000s they rename it to one Yoruba name.
As I am talking to you, the name of that bus stop is still called Cassidy till today. That was bcus the name has stucked with the people

Check the date too 2017. This was when Obi was basically ambitionless, and his fellow SE people still spoke the truth about his behavior.
