At any rate Tinubu does not have the authority to do this

It needs legislation

In the case of Buhar he was never a friend of Universities . Maybe they could have named Obudu Ranch or something like that after him

But I do not think universities Should live under the threat that their names would change based on the mood of the President

Tinubu may be reserving UNILAG or UI to be named after him

He should have named the Transport University at Daura after Buhari instead of University of Maiduguri.

Some iconic schools name should not be changed for posterity and historic purposes

I remember when Jonathan proposed to rename UNILAG to Moshood Abiola University but that gesture was fought against by the students and alumni of UNILAG.
UNILAG is unique. UNIMAID is also a unique name.

Why not build an entirely new university and name it after Buhari? I don't support renaming UNIMAID to Buhari university. Build a new one in his name. Simple.

Eulogize Buhari by giving Nigerians dividends of democracy, let Nigerians feel it and leave University of Maiduguri alone. What's all these ?

He was a successful military governor of the Northeast and initially drove out our first proper case of Islamic fundamentalism if I remember correctly.

This was one of the reasons a lot of us thought he'd be able to handle Boko Haram better than he did and bring back the Chibok girls.

However it is only God who knows how life pans out and what is truly behind any man's success.

Tinubu is the biggest hypocrite. He and his stooges stopped then president Goodluck Jonathan from renaming University of Lagos to honor Abiola. They vehemently resisted the authority of the president

What stopped Jonathan from exercising his presidential power? When we tell you that being simple does not translate to an effective leader, you will not agree. Jonathan is not rugged for Naija type of politics. Infact Jonathan cannot rule United Kingdom because the way opposition will tear him up with media attack and propaganda, he will nearly resign.

Build a new institution in their honour. Leave historic sites alone. This is rubbish just like Alex Otti renaming Abia Poly, Ohakim's attempt to rename IMSU and Jonathan's attempt to rename UNILAG abi which school again.
There's a new federal University situated by Buhari in Daura. That's a perfect fit. Upgrade it's number of accredited departments and rename it to become more popular.
