At any rate Tinubu does not have the authority to do this

It needs legislation

In the case of Buhar he was never a friend of Universities . Maybe they could have named Obudu Ranch or something like that after him

But I do not think universities Should live under the threat that their names would change based on the mood of the President

I’m not a fan of naming universities after political figures but if the people and students (past and present) of the school are cool with it, I am cool with it as well.

I never agreed with the renaming of Ife

And we should put a stop to this practice. They can name stadia airports sea ports and so on

Universities issue certificates . and new certificates have to be designed
Those that entered a university with one expectation will now graduate with one funny name on their certificate
such changes are costly
Websites stationery and so on

It is painful that this can be done without consulting the students or alumni

It is not as bad for a new university though I still disagree but for an old university it is terrible

Surely you are not the owner of the university, nor does your username indicate you have any special ties to Maiduguri, so why are you bothered?

Or is their an example anywhere in the world where the owners don't get the right to choose the name of their property. I'd be interested for examples as all the countries I have been to have universities named after individuals, so again it's
strange to me why naming a university in the state capital after the first governor of the state is so abhorrent to you.

But anyway using the example you gave earlier about the man and his wives, I guess deep down you accept that are "a meddlesome interloper, peeping into the affairs of his neighbour without any backing." (in the Supreme courts words )

Tinubu is the biggest hypocrite. He and his stooges stopped then president Goodluck Jonathan from renaming University of Lagos to honor Abiola. They vehemently resisted the authority of the president

Tinubu also stopped Jonathan from providing potable water for Otueke people.
He also stopped GEJ from construction of the East West road that eventually killed his MIL.

You people fear that Tinubu more than yours deities in the village.
