Some people have been saying Obi attracted Beer Factory to Anambra State, however, we were surprised to learn that it is the highest source of IGR (Aside Banks) to Anambra state- meaning that it aids Anambra State economy by employing workers who pay tax and also source local materials for production. Now, can any name any top 10 IGR paying companies Tinubu attracted to Lagos during his Tenure as Lagos state governor? Thank you. Tinubu only created Alpha (Ahmed) Beta (Bola) Company to act as midd-man in calculating revenue collected by LIRS. Thereby, taking 10% of the revenue for doing absolutely NOTHING. Before Alpha-Beta, I was filing my personal income tax annually and get reimbursed what is overpaid. 1 Like |

A public officer took State funds and invested in the State. That investment is now yielding PAYE and WHT. This should be an example of proper stewardship of taxpayer funds and should be studied in policy and business schools. It's not the first or only State investing and reaping dividends, but it's an example to showcase amongst others. The so-called fact check goes ahead to confirm that indeed the funds were invested and are indeed yielding a dividend for the people of Anambra. The banks that have invested in the State have created jobs and revenues, but the fact-checkers major in measuring what does not count. For the avoidance of doubt, SABMiller is the largest indigenous contributor to IGR in Anambra. SABmiller got just 320million tax revenue per year from SABmiller, how much do you think companies on the LFZ pay to LASG per year? He likely did not attract. But did he make it viable for businesses to be attracted? Whose idea was the Eko Atlantic City? Whose idea was the Lekki Free Trade Zone hosting Dangote Refinery today? Tinubu started Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) that is running railways today. He started the Lagos Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) that handles accidents and emergency services. He also energized Lagos Waste Management (LAWMA) to evacuate refuse and employed thousands. Tinubu also did enormous judicial reforms and resized the Lagos Civil Service. Tinubu also founded Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) which generates a lot of revenue for the state from outdoor advertising. Finally, he raised IGR to about 7 billion naira monthly. He did not need to attract a company with high IGR but increased it by what was already on ground. You can't divorce Ambode, Fashola and Sanwo-Olu from Tinubu. They followed the foundation and built on Tinubu's legacies. Look at Cross Rivers. Imagine if Liyel Imoke and Ben Ayade had followed Donal Duke's template on Tinapa and Obudu cattle ranch. People would have been going there for their weddings and events. Had your guy focused on Nnewi and turned it to a manufacturing hub, imagine what it would have been in 20 years. But no, just talk and talk and talk with nothing to show. |
