On the day that Babangida moved to Abuja, the section of the Bridge from Ebute Metta to Oworonshoki was named after him. He drove to the Ebute Metta exit and unveiled the plaque. I posted the video last year. But it wasn't the entire bridge that was named after him, just the section that he completed.

Make we dey honest: if we wan name the bridge, maybe call am "Unity Bridge" or "Nigeria Perseverance Bridge." Naming am after Buhari go just dey cause online gbas gbos.

2. Katsina Train Station?
Ehn ehn... this one weak me small. Yes, Buhari from Katsina, and yes dem start the Kano-Maradi line under him, but why we dey build train into Niger Republic while Lagos to Calabar, Port-Harcourt to Maiduguri rail still be dream?
Make we name am after Buhari for effort sake? Hmm... maybe. But e go make sense make we name a nationally beneficial project after am, not something wey people still dey debate whether e even make sense. Abi wetin you think?

3. NDDC Headquarters?
Omo! This one get as e be. Na same NDDC wey dey inside wahala since? Even under Buhari nose sef, snake swallow money, forensic audit lost in transit, etc. E good say dem finally get building, but make we clap for federal character small, not necessarily Buhari alone. You wan name NDDC building after Buhari? That one fit be PR suicide in Port Harcourt o! 😂

Honestly, if we really wan name something after Baba, make we name a discipline training centre or corruption rehab camp — since na those be him main slogans. Maybe "Buhari Centre for Anti-Corruption & Discipline Studies" go make sense. E go even carry that military ginger. 😂

Well, there's nothing wrong with naming the University of Maiduguri after Buhari, but if it were me, there are 3 things that I would have named after him.

1) The Second Niger Bridge: So many governments have promised to build it (Shagari, Obasanjo and Jonathan for example) and failed, it should be named after him to acknowledge the fact that he actually built it.

2) Katsina Train Station:

The Kano-Maradi rail line had been proposed by previous governments, but it was his government that actually started construction. Buhari was also from Katsina State and it would be perfect if the Katsina Train Station is named after him.

The land was acquired in 1996 (when the agency was known as OMPADEC), but nothing was built on it. The agency continued to operate from rented quarters. It was Buhari's government that built the new headquarters and he commissioned it in 2021 (25 years after the land was bought), so it should be named after him.

What a man Buhari was. He commissioned a lot of projects and named none after himself. He rebuffed the moves by Southeast governors to name the second Niger Bridge after him. He even rejected it when Umahi went ahead to name the Ebonyi International Airport after him.

This is in huge contrast to Tinubu who has been naming every new and existing National Monument after himself. Infact, his first commissioned project was "The World's Largest Portrait", a portrait of himself on June 12th, one year after his swearing-in. Buhari and Tinubu are not the same.

Naptu2 says if you don't like it, go and unname it. It's just a matter of time. Most of these things will be unnamed, just wait. You can't glorify yourself into the history books and it shows that the person is insecure to want things named after them when it's not their personal money being used.
