IELTS Test Fee In Nigeria: What You Need To Know by IamZam(op): 10:56am On Jul 18, 2025
According to a recent post by Waka Waka Doctor, an X influencer:

"The British Council just reviewed the IELTS test fee in Nigeria again. You can still register at the previous rate via ielts.ng.

This applies whether you're taking the General or Academic test."

This is an important update for anyone preparing to take the IELTS in the coming weeks. While the British Council has officially increased the test fee, there's still a short window to pay the previous rate of ₦266,000 when you register through MOD IELTS via IELTS.NG.

Whether you're taking the General or Academic test, this previous test fee still applies. To take advantage of this, visit ielts.ng.

Giving is helping the giver more than the receiver. It is more blessed to give than to receive. That is why despite Africa getting the most aid it is still very poor. Ever wondered why wealthy nations never want to receive aid from poorer nations? Because they know it sets spiritual forces that will go against them because u can never be better than who is giving to you. Wealth is a mindset.

Nigeria government should do something about this exorbitant fee of IELTS. Last two years when I wrote mine in Portharcourt, it was 94k. We were taught in English in the University and we can speak English too. Why all this amounts just to prove we can speak English.

Even though we know English because British colonised us…some people don’t pass because they don’t obey instructions

For example don’t give long answers when only short ones are required…or speaking too fast or too slow, believe it or not most Nigerians don’t even know how to use articles properly , or use synonyms and the rest properly…that’s why even though you know English in general….you have to study very well…you’ll be surprised that you may not know as much as you think.

They are taking advantage now…at least they should increase the validity to three years with this amount of money.

The pass rate depends on the requirement of the organisation u are writing it for, even doctors and nurses don't have the same IELTS requirement.

This is what you get when you don't have a working country. These people know that Nigerians speak English every day, yet they ask Nigerians travelling to anglophone countries to present the certificate because they know we are too desperate to leave this hellhole and never come back.

..that is why Nigerians and government should make the economy and country better and good and government should provide better life and better standard of living for Nigerians and all this exorbitant IELTS fees and japa to foreign countries for greener pastures will reduce and stop gradually
