Assistant Professor Yakubu has reacted to renaming of University of Maiduguri.

When Goodluck Jonathan renamed UNILAG to their beloved son, Abiola. They rejected it.

Now see what they are doing to University of Maiduguri.

Why are they doing this??

There are some institutions that should be seen as sacred - As in no one should tamper with their names.

The names of these institutions are supposed to be protected not messed up.

Ask yourself, will USA change the name of Harvard University to honour a past president?

Will UK rename University of Oxford or University of Cambridge in honour of a late King or Queen or Prime Minister?

Will University of Toronto alter its name to immortalise a politician?

These are centuries old institutions of learning yet they have three things in common - excellence, consistency, and legacy.

We must stop renaming our educational institutions after politicians. University of Maiduguri is 50 years old this year for heaven's sake.

Loko-Oweto bridge in Nasarawa is longer than 2nd Niger Bridge. Loko-Oweto bridge should be given that privilege.

2nd Niger Bridge doesn't deserve that huge privilege of being named after Muhammadu Buhari.

Hehehe! I said the same thing. Rename the Federal University of Transportation in Daura Kastina state after Buhari if you must do. However, Buhari does not deserves it.

Tinubu can not resist the renaming of the University of Lagos back then under Jonathan, but today wants to claim a hero in honouring a vallian like Buhari for political favour. It is a wrong move in its entirety.

Buhari was a failure in all his lifetime, he did not contributed anything meaningful to the Nigerian society both as a civilian & President. Instead Nigeria care & fed him since his youth till his old age & death.

They should name the LAGOS -ABEOKUTA expressway after Buhari. Very fitting

You're crying more than the bereaved here apparently. In the case of UNILAG, students led massive protests on campus and in surrounding areas. ASUU rejected it, the general public rejected it, and it was timeless and classless. It faced immediate and massive opposition as it came out of the blues and most people didn't see it as a good compensation for Abiola. They wanted things like June 12 date honoured, or post humous GCFR, or government apology and acknowledgement of Abiola's win. Stop comparing apples and oranges.

Read this write up and got emotional but on a second thought ,I felt this man could have resigned when he was Ill and allowed Osinbajo to rule.

And again ,the likes of Emefiele ruined brought this beloved country to ground under his administration and this still leaves a big sore in the heart of Nigerians.

Again,deed has been done ,we all should always do good and remember that we ain’t taking any shit with us when we return to our creator.

Tinubu is indeed a good man. Based on all what Buhari did for Ndi Imo, I will advice president Tinubu to rename the Imo State University as well to Muhammadu Buhari University.

Why not rename a faculty building, hostel block, administrative building etc than to rename the full institution.
