APC Urges Media Team To Counter Falsehoods, Promote Tinubu’s Reforms by Bobloco(op): 5:40am On Jul 19, 2025
The All Progressives Congress has emphasised the urgent need to confront the weaponisation of ethnicity, religion, and misinformation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party urged its spokespersons nationwide to rise to the challenge and address these issues decisively.

Speaking at a capacity-building seminar for APC Zonal and State Publicity Secretaries on Friday, the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, highlighted the positive impact of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and unification of exchange rates, on infrastructure development and economic opportunities.

Basiru, in his remarks, expressed concern over the growing ethnic divisions in the country, noting that such fault lines were not as pronounced during his youth as they became during the 2023 elections.

The APC National Secretary stated, “This gathering is also important because even before the 2023 election, we have seen the weaponisation of falsehood as an instrument of politics in Nigeria. Now, people will go and pick images from Somalia, images from Chad, images from where there is war ravage, and put an address to it in Nigeria in order to create misinformation.

“We also have a situation where people who have had the opportunity of governing the sub-national, and without any achievement beyond establishing their factory, will come and be telling us what happened in China, in Malaysia, when at the backyard of their own yard, their community is ravaged with floods, and they did not put a single school building for eight years of administration.

“So this gathering is important for us to be able to tackle those who have also weaponised ethnicity. Growing up in Nigeria, ethnic fault lines were not as pronounced as they have been made ahead of the 2023 election, and unfortunately, they are still carrying that over post-2023 election.

“Another front line is that of religion — the weaponisation of religion on the grounds of politics. Even people whose sanctimonious attitude is very dubious now try to wear the toga of religion for the purpose of political ascendancy. These are part of the efforts that we need to put in place. How do we effectively tackle the weaponisation of falsehoods, the weaponisation of ethnicity, and the weaponisation of religious bigotry in our country?”

Basiru stated that current data clearly indicates the economy is performing strongly and that the APC-led Federal Government is receiving praise from credible and knowledgeable sources.

He noted that it is ironic that in Nigeria, people often celebrate when the International Monetary Fund or World Bank criticises the country, but tend to dismiss or ignore their commendation when it favours the APC administration.

The APC scribe continued, “So we, as a government, must also show that contrary to the doom-based scenario of people who thought the Naira would climb to 2,000 and beyond 2,000, the Naira has become one of the best-performing currencies in Nigeria. It showed that what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done is to let us get integrated into the structure of the global economy, and that has also brought investment, massive ones into the Nigerian economy.

“Today, our oil production is now peaking at 1.7 million barrels per day because they were able to attract investment in those areas.”

In his remarks, Alake stated that the federal government has been playing its part by increasing revenue allocations to sub-national entities, while also initiating significant infrastructure projects.

The Minister stated, “If you look at the general situation in Nigeria, particularly in terms of governance, you’ll notice that at the macro level, the federal government has put in place a lot of policy initiatives and reforms in particular, and those reforms have had a very salutary effect on the macroeconomy of the country.

“Now, the macroeconomic indices are really shooting up. The value of the currency is stabilised. So that’s what the President did: remove the hydra-headed oil fuel subsidy, which had been dragging the economy of the country back.

“A lot of people had been milking the country dry through the phoney fuel subsidy, which was going into private pockets. But now that the subsidy has been removed, if you recall, too, there’s hardly a government in this country that did not recognise the need to remove the fuel subsidy. But none had the courage to do so. And so Nigeria was getting deeper and deeper into economic straits. So this government came, and the President removed the fuel subsidy with a fiat.

“And then, of course, merged the dual exchange rate. Now, these were two hydra-headed economic monsters that were dragging the economy of Nigeria backwards. So once these were removed, a lot more money and revenue became accruable to the sub-nationals, apart from the federal government.

“The states and the local governments had much more money than before. And if you also do a kind of content analysis, you’ll discover that a lot of the states that were in a deep debt morass have cleared their debt right now. And there’s more money for them to embark on infrastructural development.”

Alake said the federal government is also embarking on major infrastructural development across the country.

On what the government is doing to bring down the price of commodities, he stated, “Now, when people say, ‘Oh, this thing is expensive, this rises, that automatically is expensive’, that’s the micro. But if you don’t stabilise the macro, you cannot get the advantages of the micro.

“So, when, for instance, there is stability in the economy through more revenue accruing to the sub-nationals to embark on infrastructural development, then employment generation will begin to rise. And with employment generation, production will begin to grow.

“With growth in production, there will be more money circulating within the economy. So, the micro will then eventually be taken care of. When there are productive ventures in the country, your currency will automatically become stronger.”

What do they wanna sell when people can no longer afford basic things, yet you spend billion in renovating.
Fuel - 850 to 950
Food 2000% higher than normal
Clothing is so expensive
Businesses are shorting down
Massive brain drain due to the low standard of living. Even an experienced professor cannot afford a car.
How do you tell someone that a car f 2008 is sold for over ten million naira at tokunbo while same car brand new during the same year was around 3 million.

Yet, these politicians are blind or turning blind eyes. They keep clinging to power and doing nothin about the collective progress of Nigeria.

Anyway, Peter Obi for 2017

Like someone above said, good works speak for themselves.

APC is so jittery at the mention of Peter Obi. Imagine the nonesensical comment coming from a spokes person. In summary he is telling their onlie urchins to launch more attacks on Peter Obi.
APC propaganda machine is collapsing like a pack of card because truth and reality are hitting it badly. The propaganda is not working. Nigerians have seen through their shenanigans.

"...the naira has become one of the best performing currencies in Nigeria..."

How many currencies are we using in Nigeria?

When you see propaganda driven efforts from a failed government which is desperate to masquerade as being performative, it's usually very easy to spot.

At the end of the day, all of this political maneuvering is consequent upon the fear of Peter Obi and it's so alarming to find a ruling government playing the opposition role, an occurrence never before seen since this colonial cesspit gained false independence in the 60s huh.

But the media team and the rag tag foot soldiers are doing the work diligently, some are even doing more than expected. It's just that lies have a short life span and life is a little bit tough for those who call white black.

Even the alleged N20k earners were shocked into poor performance ‘cause no matter how skilled you are at lying to yourself, certain things will make you look at the mirror, look at where your leaders and their families are, look at your life, look at your keyboard and realise that at this rate you and your unborn generation will NEVER amount to anything useful. The sudden realisation of that stark reality is deeply unsettling.

No need to urge, you can only double up with the propaganda. They are always active on social media kicking at anybody that tried to criticize your government. We have many of them here on nairaland and so on. But you know it's better for you to double your governance performance instead of spreading false propaganda. Nigerians are wiser. 2027, if nothing change, go and renovate your Bourdillion, you are going back there. Thank you

May Day: Hunger, unemployment, insecurity real— Tinubu

According to him: “The theme demands our collective attention and serves as a stark reminder of the need to create an environment where every worker feels safe, valued, and empowered to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our nation. As your President, I assure you that this administration is committed to creating such an environment for the common good.”

On the economic hardship, he noted that while it is a global phenomenon, its effects on Nigerians are particularly severe.

Tinubu said: “I am aware of the peculiarities of the economic hardship Nigerians face—rising living costs, hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and the loss of livelihoods. These challenges are real and demand definitive solutions, which I am poised to address as your President.

The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.

That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.
