A self-proclaimed gospel artist and eight individuals have been sentenced by courts in Kwara State for cybercrime, conspiracy, and financial fraud. The convictions were secured by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Details of the Convictions

In a statement released on July 18, 2025, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that Moses Otitoju, a 31-year-old gospel singer from Kogi State, was sentenced to six months imprisonment without the option of a fine by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Ilorin.

Otitoju, who claimed to perform at weddings and funerals, was found guilty of retaining N8.4 million in illicit funds in his bank account. The charge against him cited violations of the EFCC Act (2004).
Other Convicts and Sentences

Ayodele Joseph – 8 months imprisonment (no fine), forfeiture of a Techno 19 phone.

Adeoye Joseph – 8 months imprisonment (no fine), forfeiture of $220, an iPhone 13, and a Techno Pop 9.

Abubakar Aliyu Abdulmalik – 6 months imprisonment, forfeiture of an iPhone 16 and Samsung S10.

Additional Convictions by Kwara State High Court

Abdulkadir Taofeek – 3 years imprisonment (or N500,000 fine), forfeiture of N800,000, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and a Samsung phone.

Emeka Oluwatobi Achi, Isaac Babalola Oluwafemi, and Afolabi Faith Olatoye – 6 months imprisonment each (or N100,000 fine). Emeka was also ordered to refund N3.35 million within three months.

Prosecution and Restitution

The EFCC’s legal team, led by Aliyu Adebayo, presented evidence including bank statements, recovered funds, and devices, leading to the convictions.
