Obidients In Abia Beg Atiku To Step Down For Peter Obi by Nemere2020(op): 9:20pm On Jul 19, 2025
Supporters of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, popularly known as the ‘Obidents’, in Abia State, have appealed to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to shelve his rumoured presidential ambition in 2027, and throw his weight behind Obi to pick the presidential ticket of the coalition African American Congress, ADC.

They made the appeal during their mega rallies on Saturday to mark Obi’s 64 birthday.

The peaceful rally daubed ‘one million man-march for Obi’, held simultaneously in Umuahia the state capital, Aba the commercial nerve centre, Ohafia and Uzuakoli towns respectively.

Addressing newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia State Chairman of the Organising Committee and one of the Coordinators of the Obidients in the state, Dr Chibuzor Obiesili, appealed to Atiku to sacrifice his presidential ambition in support of Obi, who he said has the quick fix to Nigeria’s challenges if given the opportunity.

Dr Obiesili acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the former Vice President to move Nigeria forward, but strongly appealed to him to take the back seat and support Obi’s presidential bid.

He commended Atiku and other opposition figures for forming the coalition against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, but advised the coalition to cede its presidential ticket to the South.

On why the movement is rooting for Obi, he said the former Anambra State Governor “has the pedigree, track record of integrity and national appeal”.

”We thank those behind the formation of the coalition. But we appeal that the coalition should consider Obi for its presidential ticket because he has the national appeal needed to uproot the ruling APC.

” We plead with Atiku to please step aside for Obi. Atiku has tried his best for Nigeria but his greatest sacrifice and gift to Nigeria will be to support Obi get the ADC presidential ticket in 2027 so that Nigeria can move forward. Nigeria needs an Obi for a quick fix, and in the interest of all. He has what is needed to pull Nigeria out of the woods!”

On the birthday rally, Obiesili said it was not coerced but a voluntary action by the Obidents to celebrate Obi “for what he represents and stands for”.

He said that Obi’s consistent advocacy for the poor and oppressed masses of Nigeria had endeared him to many across party, religious and ethnic lines.

”Obi has shown exemplary leadership. His lifestyle and passion for the masses are worth emulating. He is a man of character, integrity and compassion. That’s why we are celebrating him.

”We haven’t seen a politician in Nigeria today who is as clean and transparent as he . If one comes up tomorrow, we will also celebrate the person but for now, we haven’t seen any”.

He wished Obi long life and sound health while praying God to grant him his dream of presiding over the affairs of the country.

”Our prayer is that God will grant him his life dream of becoming the President of this country one day”, he declared.

Meanwhile members of the Obident Movement, in jubilant procession, marched through major streets in Umuahia, chanting solidarity songs and dancing to the admiration of residents.

Highlight of the rally was empathy visit to correctional centres, hospitals and orphanages where the Obidents donated some items to them in memory of Obi.

Why will obi beg? Is he not popular enough to defeat ATIKU in primary election? Someone that is scared of primary election how can he win in general election?

This isn't politics. You don't beg, you fight. Why can't he compete with him and defeat him in a primary. Why begging. Politics isn't for kids

How can someone that is scared of primary election win the presidential election against an incumbent government.

If Peter obi and his people know that he is popular enough to win the general election, then why are they scared of primaries.
Re: Obidients In Abia Beg Atiku To Step Down For Peter Obi by richmond500: 6:34am On Jul 20, 2025
Let's be honest, in a 2man race, Tinubu will floor Obi.

The only way is for the opposition to work together irrespective of who wins.

My candidates will be
1. Obi
2. Tinubu, that's because he has Wike, else he would have been no1
3. Amaechi but he doesn't stand a chance
4.
5.
6. Atiku
7.
8.
...
...500. Wike, it could be lower but I'll just put him here

How wish atiku should listen to national cry and throw his support behind obi. He will also have the privilege to control obi y he is in power and obi will also hand over power to him by 2031 in a platter of Gold grin
Re: Obidients In Abia Beg Atiku To Step Down For Peter Obi by PriceActionZ:
They will abuse the hell out of everyone that have contrary opinions online and then come beg offline. Bunch of clowns.
Politics is not about emotions, but about the last man standing. Work on your own delegates especially in the south to block the Dollar man delegates from the north, build structures, connect bridges, fight both with teeth and nails, get the primary tickets then choose your vice strategically and work your way through and hope God favours you. All handwriting is on the floor that atiku will likely contest under ADC. He has started building northern structures. Obi too, if he thinks he has a chance, should start to build southern structures to block him, draft plan B , then keep his plan B secret.
But if we talk now they will say we are Batists. People don't know who Tinubu is. You think he has a weak link to loose that seat? Majority of the opposition knows that but shame won't allow them agree.

Now they are after where they can see free money. Majority of Nigerian politicians know nothing about anything except self interests and money exchanging hands. If they can't get it with A , they move to B. And that's what atiku believe in and understand and will make him have an edge over others.
I wish them the best.

Beg? This is desperation for power. It's not just Obi that is desperate, but his entire ethnic people.
I don't even have a problem if they are clamoring for an igbo president, it's their right.

What I am against is, is them saying obi is the most competent.... They should come out openly with full chest and say it as it is, they want an igbo president, full stop.

Just like the Southeast, the Northeast too has never produced a President. No one would step down for anyone. If Atiku steps down for Obi, would Obi's supporters also beg Tinubu to step down for Obi in the general election? Obi should prove his prowess by defeating Atiku at the primaries. If you claim Atiku would dollarize the primaries, Tinubu will also dollarize the general election. Politics is not an emotional sport.

Obi and his supporters are jokers.
If you're afraid to contest a primary election in your party, how are you going to win the general election.
Obi is known for getting party tickets as a giveaway right from his time as APGA candidate in 2003.

If he can not face ordinary party delegates in the primary election, how can he face complicated Nigeria without running?

That's where leadership quality comes in which Peter Obi lacks. Forget about the money spending. If people have been loyal to you, no one can bribe them

See how you are insulting Atiku, insulting delegates, insulting everyone but you want them to support your candidate.

Try to bring people closer to you instead of chasing them off.

See begi begi, Atiku is ADC and ADC is Atiku. Obi don't even have what it takes to change Nigeria. When some of said he should nurture a party but obidients said they don't belong to any party but anywhere he goes they follow. See what nzogbu nzogbu politics has caused them now. He either take VP slot or he chicken out like he did in pdp. The core north will never tell Atiku to step down for obi. They will prefer Ameachi who performed far better than obi as both governors if they want to zone it to south.

Obi should deputize Atiku , even obi knows he cannot win Tinubu .

Only a northerner can boot bulaba out .

Obasanjo 2 terms

Tinubu 1 term ..

That's enough for the SW..
