Who Will Inherit CPC Politicians? by helinues(op): 1:16pm On Jul 18, 2025
Late president Buhari had been the one leading the CPC political group which formed margin with AD to make APC.

The question now is who will Inherit the CPC members between Atiku and President Tinubu?

I am reserving my opinion about this. Want to read from others who truly know about the political and religious Ideology working in Northern part of Nigeria

The voters are not properties. Nobody will inherit them. They have their different choices.
Re: Who Will Inherit CPC Politicians? by emkz: 1:28pm On Jul 18, 2025
I think the question should be who would Buhari's followers look to for leadership.

I think the CPC politicians only won their seats due to the might of Muhammadu Buhari. Some of those who didn't win or did not contest did not support Tinubu in 2022/2023. They are largely weightless politically.

Now, how did Buhari win over the organic following? He was noted for his spartan lifestyle and strong commitment to his people. During his time as PTF Chairman, his records demonstrated someone who'd help the poor. They felt he fought for them and did not oppress them. They also admired his accessibility and lack of luxuries.

Among his closest apostles, they have not demonstrated the gravitas of Buharideens. The closest person to that is probably his State House Chief of Protocol (Lawal Kazaure) from Jigawa state. Another person is Mamman Daura. A third is Senator Yar'adua.

But for now, what would matter is who Buhari supported before he died. Until a proper replacement is found, those angling to impose themselves might be rejected.

At least they would have preferred candidate for the 2027 election. Whoever majority of them queue behind automatically inherit them

It comes with responsibility, so it's more like inheritance

I agree with you for the first time. Every politician fame and followed hip comes with circumstances.

The circumstances that birthed Buhari cult followers will not occur again not in our lifetime.

Just as for Obi or Tinubu, let every politician carve his nitch and grow his followers
Re: Who Will Inherit CPC Politicians? by givedemwotowoto:
The CPC block is fragmented now. They will stay within the various states and political leadership for now until someone’s profile rises. There’s no single individual that can inherit most of them immediately.

Buhari was the binding factor for all these groups of political blocs and presently, no single individual has his profile to be able to inherit most of them. The closest to Buhari is Atiku though he doesn’t have all it takes.

Atiku is the most influential politician in Northern Nigeria as of this moment and he will inherit many of Buhari’s voters. Atiku already inherited a big chunk of Shehu Yar’Adua structure and I think he has what it takes to expand his influence.

Was Buhari contesting for presidency before his demise?

He finished his term since 2023.

This was posted right before the Peter Obi Dilemma thread...

Wike knows he is finished.
No leverage against Tinubu means he is desperate.

He is at Tinubu's mercy right now and he doesn't like it. Tinubu can fire him and that will be his end. Tinubu can also make Fubara delay his peace deal in time to rearrange Rivers.

-Checkmated by Tinubu in Rivers
-Checkmated by Atiku in PDP

The man is gone

His final move? Peter Obi.
Let me explain...

Wike intends to deceive Peter Obi and use him to remain relevant in two ways.

1. Allow Peter Obi to run under LP & emerge as LP candidate then disqualify him close to election using Abure thanks to his bribed Supreme Court justices.

2. Lure Peter Obi to PDP with the hope of a superior political structure and financial backing to LP's then play PO like he played Atiku.

His recent expulsion threat is a ruse and once Peter Obi falls for it, Wike will be reinstated to finish him off. If Obi doesn't decamp willingly, Wike may also decide to expel himself from PDP, join Abure's LP faction to smoke Obi out of LP into PDP and once Obi is in PDP, decamp again from LP to PDP to finally end Obi.

The 2 scenarios above automatically give Wike strong leverage against Tinubu and allow him to be seen as a "string puller" especially since Peter Obi is considered a deadlier foe than Atiku due to his organic followership.

Wike can then bargain with Tinubu using either option to remain in power post-2027.
The final nail to Wike's coffin will be if Peter Obi officially decamps to ADC the only problem with that is whether Atiku is willing to step down for him.

The moment Atiku signs a deal with Peter Obi for 2027, Wike and Tinubu are gone.

APC , they still owe the ACN block loyalty . ADC is a joke .
Re: Who Will Inherit CPC Politicians? by kingbee90: 10:16am On Jul 20, 2025
The CPC block has been inherited by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Tinubu doesn't seem to be serving their interests and will ruthlessly deal with them after 2027 elections if he's reelected .

The Hausa/Fulani CPC people don't think twice whenever they want to support their own.

A lot of them are porting to ADC...especially folk like ElRufai.

I also suspect...tentatively, as it is too early to tell...that most of them will err on the side of caution and remain in APC for now.

The real issue for APC Is the mass of talakawa who followed Buhari. It is possible that in an election where Atiku is running, they may choose Atiku. Obi as the main opposition candidate might make many of them to follow tinubu (religion)

But it is too early to say. This is the first election where buhari is not playing a major role..ie the 2027 election. It might be like the 1999 election, where we really did not know what was going to happen...
Re: Who Will Inherit CPC Politicians? by AdolfHitlerxXx: 10:26am On Jul 20, 2025
CPC Bloc isn't particularly useful.

Only Buhari benefited and those he appointed after he came to power.

Buhari actively worked against Tinubu and he failed... as usual.

So Tinubu will win again, with or without their support.

How many of them are even still relevant?

I see anyone who is asking Atiku to step down for Obi as a Tinubu supporter. How on earth can Obi win presidential election in Nigeria from opposition? I am a strong Obidient from Anambra state and I told people that Obi will lose the 2023 election either by hook or crook.

Atiku is the only person that can wrestle power from Tinubu especially if he runs with Obi. Do you think Tinubu is a gentleman like Jonathan?

Do you think Northerners will threaten to burn down the country if Obi is rigged out?

I don't want anyone shouting rigging after Obi loses 2027 election again. The closest and the shortest route to Obi's presidency is through Atiku. If not that Buhari won in 2015, do you think Tinubu would have been the president today? Obi has to build bridges, support other and learn the ruggedity and rigging methods in Nigeria election before thinking of becoming the president.

He's the most qualified but Nigerian factor will always work against him.

Anyone can argue all he wants. You don't love Obiore than I do.

I dont have answer to the OP question as I dont know how deep rooted CPC party is and their relevance in Nigerian politics today but, you are wrong sir with this your comment.
They are not properties albeit, but they can be easily swayed, especially coming from the North, many of them doesn't have their choices as you assumed. Their Imams, Emirs and some political figure calls the shots and make most of their choices when it comes to political matters, Most of the voters in that region just want to live and survive, they careless about basic amenities/infrastructures, who cares if government provides jobs, hospitals, schools etc..they really doesn't care..they just want to survive, hence, they can easily be influenced
