Hello.

Millions of people have done it before including @solihp who just narrated her personal experience to you.

■■
The best form of POF (proof of funds) is a physical bank statement, therefore you have to give it out to mama. However , If mama has a personal Naira account you can transfer the calculated expenses in Naira or provide your own Naira account. ■● Mama can be placed on 221g if you provide an international account which the consular might need extra time to verify.

■● U.S Consulars 65% of the time doesn't ask for documents but they are not predictable. Therefore do the needful by letting mama to attend the interview with necessary requirements. 👍
Thanks!

Hello!

There's a need for more context about the last refusal before one can offer specific recommendations e.g. what questions were you asked at your last interview and how did you respond?

One thing that concerns me is your home ties to Nigeria. Why are you coming back? What/who are you coming back to? You are traveling with your daughters but my question is- is there any key family member in Nigeria to return to when your visit is over? Additionally, if you are traveling October, are you pulling the kids out of school for the trip? If so, you definitely need to be able to explain this and the duration of your trip should be short e.g. if you claim a 3 week vacation while your kids are still in session, this may raise concerns.

That said, prepare for your interview. You want to come across as confident and yet not desperate. I recently shared some tips for another applicant. I will re-share below and hope you find them useful. Also, since you are traveling with the kids, be ready to answer questions about them and their present circumstances.

US Interview tips
1. Prepare for typical questions. I have shared a list of some below. You can Google for more. You don't want to sound robotic like you memorised all answers but you also don't want to be unprepared.
2. Closely tied to point 1, understand that the interview is the main thing. They are not likely to ask for documents so let your words communicate what you need to communicate. Don't think if they ask who you are visiting, your answer will be to present an invitation letter or if they ask about your job, you will present employment letter. Be ready to speak in the 3-5 minutes you have with them.
3. This one is very important. Ignore what is going on in other windows. As you wait your turn, you may witness several rejections, ignore them because everybody's case is different. You are there to receive your approval. Don't let the refusals you witness distract and destabilise you.
3. Get there early so you don't feel rushed.

Possible questions
1. What's the purpose of your visit?
2. How long do you plan to stay in the US?
3. Where in the US will you be visiting (be specific about the cities you will visit) and where will you stay(hotel, with family etc.)?
4. Who are you visiting (if applicable)?
5. What do you do for a living?
6. What's your travel history?
7. Do you have other family in your home country?

All the best with your interview!

YOU.
Good day everyone
Im planning on going to the US for my son's wedding this october and i would need you guys advice or tips on things i or my children can say to improve our chance of being approved.

The honest and genuine answer to this question lies in the review of your visa application (DS-160). U.S visa officers question you based on your DS-160 info.

YOU
im going with my 2 daughters (1 is 17 and one 20) and im the one sponsoring the trip(im an entrepreneur)
we were previously denied last yr dec when we wanted to go meet my son for the Christmas holiday (the V.O said we were not didnt meet up to the requirements).

You were denied under 214b, which can be insufficient funds, lack of good conversations, mismatch info in ds-160 s, etc. But psychologically, i will pick " Insufficient Ties." The consular wants all of you to proof ties because your daughters may decide to stay back in america as a " Digital Natives.

YOU
the last time we went he was a PR but may this yr he became a citizen. i dont know if that would help.
and i dont have any travel history

Both PR and Citizen can invite you to visit. This info is irrelevant to your denials. Do well to plan your re-application very well. If you are denied this time all of you will be annotated (immigrant intention). 👍

For awareness sake, can you tell us what ds160 issue made you miss your appointment.

Secondly, I do not believe that missing your appointment is valid ground to apply for emergency appointment. You will most likely be denied the emergency request. The grounds for applying for emergency appointments are stated there on the website

Disparity with my DS-160 number and appointment barcode which has been corrected.

This sounds like an error from the embassy. If I were in your shoes, I would book the appointment, and take the appointment slip with the son who was given 221. Explain the error they made. They’re human beings too.
It was a long story.. so when i went for on the scheduled date i went along with both boys.. the gate people refused to allow my 14 year old that was supposed to be sent an email to schedule for 221g.. instead i carried my 12 year old who was given 5 year Visa in when we went to window 5 for finger prints.. i then complained about the error and the apologized and told me to quickly bring in my 14 year old who did his Ten print.. it was a chaotic day for me but we thank God.. Visa was Issued

Thanks for the response. Canceling the pending appointment and starting a new one solved it. However, after payment and trying to fix a date, another error occured. When picking the date, it shows an error that it failed. Is this something you can assist with?. Thanks.
Please were you able to resolve this because I am having same issue. How were you able to rectify the error?

Please does anyone know how the new VISA validity date is determined with the new policy?

Will your VISA validity be based on the date of your visa approval or the date of travel.

For example if my interview is in August but I plan to travel in December, will my validity start from August or start from December?

It starts counting from the day your visa was issued ooo, whether you've picked up your passport or not, once it is issued, the visa starts counting from that day. They are not playing at all.

Then he really typed some stuffs for almost 2 minutes(no kidding), then he gave the blue paper with the generic statement that I can reapply again

Them just dey share blue paper anyhow 🤣 Didn't ask me or anyone else to see any documents, except for i20 for the F1 visas. Not even DS160s, I believe they have attached our ds160 to our passport, so the VO only ask for passport.

Until next time...

I guess this is why they keep reiterating that if your DS160 you hold doesn't tally with what's on your profile, your appointment won't hold. So, anyone that needs to change ds160 has to change before appointment by messaging support
