First of all, I LOVE BEER. Anything that gets in the way of beer, I avoid.
I'll also say church became a problem instead of a solution. An empty basket that never got filled up. Always making one demand or the other from members. Churches expect members that offer them services to offer these services for free. I know of one incident where the church was owing their designer/printer for over 5 years! Sometimes the man uses his own money to print flyers for the church when the church said they don't have money. But that wasn't the case. The church didn't just prioritise his service. That same church could order sound systems worth 25 million naira from Lagos in 2012 but to pay a member 400k for services rendered was a problem. Churches USE PEOPLE!

Also have you taken time to notice that Christian assemblies are loveless and are just members competing against each other? Nobody gossips like church members. If you 'fall' instead of them to rally around you, they ostracize you and keep you at arms length. The only person permitted to fall and be forgiven is the pastor.

Christians don't love. They only carry out acts of kindness that makes them feel good or show off. Everything and everyone is a prop.

Any assembly without love isn't a Christian assembly. There are churches their are dens of sinners. If you jam better church you go dey connected for life. Jesus is Lord everywhere

you are very lucky. I had to learn when in school...it was in college I started noticing the lies. In school fellowships,you will see some students giving their school fees to church and when they start struggling,the church can not return the same favor. Abeg many many stories but the biggest eye opener na COVID.

I stopped going to church because I asked myself why I am a christian, I went back in history precolonial period, I found out the real reason why christianity was brought to Africa (It's not to "save your soul" by the way). I dug out valuable information about my root and heritage and I found the answers. I didn't only find answers, I found myself. I was born again. Christianity doesn't belong to Africa, not to even mention that the vast majority of churches in Nigeria are nothing but business ventures and drama clubs, just vibes and hallelujah.

I stopped going to church simply because these modern day churches have come to prove to us beyond every reasonable doubt that GOD does not reside in churches or worship places built by men. This act by these churches has further validated what the Bible says about God not being in human churches.
Hope I'm clear?

Abuse of the Altar
In 2022, a pastor at my former church began using the pulpit to aggressively promote a Ponzi scheme. He pressured members to join and openly shamed those who refused. I was one of the most vocal in resisting the scheme.

One Sunday during his sermon, he called me out by name and publicly cursed me, declaring that I would “never make money in life.” That was my breaking point. I stood up, walked out of the church, and haven’t returned to any church since.

Ironically, the Ponzi scheme collapsed just two months later, leaving many members heartbroken and financially ruined—exactly what I had feared.

Not long after, something unexpected happened: the first business deal that brought over a million naira into my account came on a Sunday. The client couldn’t reach his usual vendor—who was likely in church—while I was open for business. Since then, Sundays have become my most profitable day. I now take my rest on Tuesdays.

This are my reasons.

1) I stopped going to church because I got bored and tired of the church services.

The sermons was no longer ministering to me. I go to church empty hoping to be filled but Instead I come back very empty.

I was no longer blessed after going to church.

There was no difference between me going to church and not going to church.

The services became long and tiring.



2) Also I stopped going to church immediately after COVID.
Why?
I realized that COVID happened. Everybody was at home for 3 months+. Nobody went to church yet God stilled heard and answered our prayers.

God protected us during those tough times even without us going to church.

I was waiting for men of God who show power and miracle to their members every Sunday to finally use the opportunity by rising up to perform miracles on infected COVID patients and heal COVID patients but no one did.

God used COVID-19 pandemic to make people realize that they do not need to run to a place to seek him, worship him and even get a Miracle from him.


3) Things became very hard for me while going to church. I graduated Uni, searched for a job, I couldn't get. I struggled financially so much while going to church. I struggled to get a job which I couldn't get. I started a small business. My little business struggled hard. It was as if my prayers will not been heard by God. It was tough. It's still tough. I prayed and prayed yet things didn't change. I just got discouraged.

To be honest, I just got tired and lost interest in going to church.

Why did you stop going to church?

Whether you start or stop going, it's all about you. Its like if you stop going to school...school no go miss you, na you miss knowledge to gain

Such knowledge, yours. But my knowledge is not based on the "gospel". I don't read such lies and nonsense.

I went to meet a pastor for prayers n he ask me to pay 50k, n i told him am broke n in debt, but he said i should go and look for the money, he refuse to pray for me. I lost interest in church. But am planning to resume, but this time, either mountain of fire or deeper life church. The others is a no for me.

You can only be comfortable not going to the gathering of brethren if you don't have the Spirit of Christ resident in you.For deep calleth unto deep;As Iron sharpeneth Iron same way a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Yes I did stop going to church at some point in my life due to some unforeseen circumstances.

But I discovered it wasn't a good idea.

I resumed.

And realised it was the best decision of my life.

You need that gathering with your fellow Christians to sharpen you always in spirit and in truth so that you can stay focused in this distracted world.

And alot changed very positively in my life.

It's very good to go to church.

Sunday and mid week services are very key to your growth in all areas of your life.

When brethren needs help, church will tell you pray to God without seizing.
When church needs help, the church will start tasking members and forget to pray to God as they always tell members.

Majority goes to church to showcase their new clothes and what nots.
I have onced ask a friend why she didn't go to church and she said the dress she's hoping to buy that week she didn't get it.
What about the ones you had at home and she was mute.

Most members gossip and looks down on some people so much.

Lastly church project no dey ever finish and members go continue to dey pay and pay.

Bro. Gbile Akanni too. I have like 5 of his books. These are Christ followers that will help lead any serious disciple to an inner and personal walk with Christ. I look forward to the day I will see Jesus and Zac poonen when Jesus returns. Until then, I'll continue to purify myself even as Christ is pure.

Well, it's surely because God in his great mercy has opened the eyes of very few of us and made us see between "original" Christianity and "fake"; what's white and half white. And that simply reading and obeying especially the new testament Bible is worth more than just following a big church/denominational movement which most times only leads to having a form of godliness without any personal relationship with Jesus. And imagining one is saved while being far lost with loads of dead works.

Seeing those pastors saying rubbish in the name of prosperity gospel dey always vex and piss me off, no preaching of salvation anymore, it's all about money money money nothing else haba, no sound doctrine anymore. Buh thank God for Dr. Abel Damina, I listen to his preaching online everytime, it has really reshape my thinking about God, going to church these days is a waste of time

But people sit where Abel Damina preaches. Why watch him online? You suppose to look for him. He has a church building too where he gathers people.

Church is for sinners, those who acknowledge their sinfulness and want God to touch them. If you feel too righteous you really don't need church. You and Jesus Christ are on the same par.

Having realized I can seek God anywhere

Can a son walk away from the house of his father ? Except one is a bastard ,you won't leave nor abandon your father's house even if he offends you. The patternal bond we develop with our father is eternal and unbreakable... Check your life if you suddenly walked away from God. It means you aren't a son yet .

Walking away from church does not necessarily implies walking away from God. We worship God in truth and in spirit.

Well, if the place is truly part of the True Father's house, it's evil to leave.

But surely not like modern Christian organizations which more focused on money and popularity in the world. True children of God must leave such.


A passage says Don't forsake the gathering; another part says, Come out from among them and touch not the unclean thing...

So one must be led by the
Holy Spirit to know when to leave or stay.

Lastly, in revelation, it says Jesus is at the door knocking. And lots of modern churches still leave Him at the door knocking. Wouldn't let Him due to the love of themselves and money.

Hence, true followers of Jesus can't be comfortable inside too but be behind Jesus knocking. And they can only enter as soon as they let Him in, hopefully. But it seems many churches have sent Him away even from their doors. Cos they got tired of the knocks. And Jesus is a gentleman, He forces nothing.
