iPhone is a great brand and to be sincere the company has a deep history for standard and artistic details including history of a legend behind the brand. That is more than enough for most people to stick with it mostly Americans.

Android as OS is great but the fact that it's open source and companies can customise it to fit the cost of brand their pushing out it just the only reason lots of people can still use great phone today.

I like iPhones but am using Android not because I can't afford iPhone, let just see it has loving a beautiful girl but marry a fair lady that you know you can handle at anytime if there is any issue.

Am presently using Oppo A58 great phone around $200

no, not jailbreak. My phone is in version 17.0 that came with the phone when I bought it. I’m using trollstore. It’s a tool similar to a jailbreak. It allows for installing modded apps, and tweaking the phone a little.
Cool, can i please know how you got trollstore installedon the phone?

Urgent1Million:
I can bet you that a larger number of iphone users, especially in Nigeria, chose the phone because of other people's perception.
I nearly made that mistake.
Currently, more than 95 % of my colleagues at work use iphones.
After a few weeks of interactions and the "you only live once" kinda talk, I decided I'll buy an iphone 6 pro max.
That'll be my entire one month salary oo!
But I didn't mind. I wanted to follow them and live the life once!
More embarrassing (or so I thought) would be times when we'll go on fun trips and they'll be taking pictures.
Me and my "palasa" Tecno Android would be dragging behind the line.
Oh well...
My appetite for the 16 pro max grew even wetter!
A little sense strayed into me and I decided I'd buy the 14 pro max instead.
I headed for the store with the money.
Unfortunately (maybe fortunately for me), in this country in live in, once a newer iphone model hits the shelves, the older ones begin to disappear.
I visited almost all the big retail phone stores but didn't find the 14 pro max.
Sad!!
When I got back to my apartments, I took out a note book and started listing the things I actually do with my phone;
Nairaland,
WhatsApp calls,
Facebook,
Instagram (once in a while),
LinkedIn,
My bank apps,

I checked my Tecno phone again and all of these were working very well.
Why then do I need to spend this much money to buy a phone just to "live once"?

"You've got the money bro, spend it!"

That was the voice at the back of my head. But the poor voice was sadly far.
I turned to the front page of my notebook (which serves as my plan book) and wrote in CAPS:

BUYING OF IPHONE POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Then my phone rang.
It was my niece.
I knew it was going to be a long conversation so I took my time before tapping the green icon.
"Uncleeeeeeeeeee...." She said in her usual cheerful tone, followed by a short giggling laughter that has "I have a very big request" laced all over the words and syllables.
"Hi sweerie..."
I managed to keep my voice placed and cool...
"Uncle we get gist oo. But before the gist, I want to ask you for something. It's really important, sir."
She said without dropping the oil in her voice.
"Go ahead my dear. Uncle always has your back"
I responded with the assurance of someone who has at least 50 million to give away.
Sometimes I wonder what gives me that sort of confidence with my 300k account balance.
But it is what it is!
"Please I need 2 mil..."
And there was silence.
"Hello, hello, heellllooo..."
But my hellos returned no response.
I looked at my phone and realized that it has died on me!
Wtf!!
I checked the battery before the call and it was in good percentage.
The voice at the back of my head drew closer now..
"Iphone or nothing", it whispered.
I picked up my pen, turned to the front page of my notebook, stuck out the earlier suspension lines, and wrote;
"Buying of iphone..."
And then I heard the start-up sound of my Tecno phone.
The phone is back up by itself!!
Oh wow!!

...to be continued.
get a 15 pro max instead of a 14pro max. That supports Apple intelligence. That is if the voice returns back for further analysis. I saw a Redmi turbo device on this website one time. I’ll help you check for the thread and add it to the voice in your head.

This might offend some people but I’ll still say it: iPhones are not for everyone.

‎I’ve used both iPhones and Androids and as much as I respect the clean UI and camera of iPhones not everyone needs a phone that costs as much as rent in Lagos 😭. Some of us just want a phone that:

‎•Won’t die before 3pmThe part you say iPhone over heat is because of were you base, why did I say this bank then when I was in Nigeria omo my phone dry hot maybe because of the environment, but since I left nothing like hotness, and my phone battery last long, Like I say I stand to be corrected.

‎•Charges fast

‎•Has decent camera for weekend pictures

‎•Doesn’t freeze mid-Zoom call

‎•Doesn’t make us check our account balance before buying data 😩

‎I used to think I needed an iPhone until I realized I was basically using a ₦900k phone to scroll Twitter, snap food pics and watch Instagram skits that my Android could’ve shown me the same way 😭. I switched to a realme phone a few months ago and I won’t lie, I had my reservations. I mean, the name alone feels like something you'd see on the back of a power bank 😭 but omo… this phone has been doing the most.

‎✅ Battery that actually lasts (I charge once a day now)
‎✅ No unnecessary heat even during long calls
‎✅ Camera quality? Surprisingly solid.
‎✅ Smooth UI... No glitchy wahala or clutter

‎It’s not perfect sha. The name still doesn’t sit well with me and people still look at me somehow when I say it but if we’re talking value for money, I’m not sure anything else comes close right now.

‎So let's argue:
‎-Do you need an iPhone or is it just vibes and pressure?
‎-What brand are you using that actually shocked you (in a good way)?
‎-And why do we look down on phones with “unpopular” names?

A Samsung S21 that came out earlier than the 15 still has a more expensive screen. I will neve buy a Samsung with my money again. I’ll stick to an iPhone for now. Imagine the SE 2020 still getting the latest version of iOS 26. That’s 6 solid years of update. Keep your android and allow iPhone users enjoy their phone in peace.

I use both. Been using android for years before I decided to get an iPhone to see what the hype and craze is all about. Nothing really special and I still find myself using the android 90% of the time due to longer battery life and fluidity in a lot of areas. Some days I forget I have an iPhone. The iPhone too is heavier but my android is sleek and light. Omo different strokes for different folks sha. If we start to compare here you'll just realize that perhaps iPhone wasn't made for the Nigerian market but the west.

Which android phone has second hand value compare to iPhone ?we buy iPhone to tie down money it’s a luxury .. Don’t play …
Which is why 90% of Nigerian iPhone users are using secondhand while android users are unboxing. So android users don't need the value of second hand, they are used to unboxing.

I've never used iPhone and that's because it's overrated!! I've used different versions of VIVO, from Y series to V series, and I can tell you for free that's it's better than iPhone 13 pro max in everything. Few friends who use iPhones confirmed it.

I'm cool, contented and explore my VIVO very well.

Thank you.

I have used samsung, tecno, xiaomi, realme and i tell this, iPhones are just the best out there. You get to a level that you want reliability, my xiaomi died on me without warning, the tenco at some point pop out in the front camera area which made the light there too bright at night and was embarrassing. If Samsungs show you shege u will humble. Iphones are simply the best i have used iPhone 6-8-X-13-15 and not one of them failed me.

Contrary to believes iPhones are the cheapest, i have 5 esims do you know how much an android with esim cost now? iPhones are not overrated
Have you used infinix? That's a joke by the way. Durability is not a criterion to rate the iPhone over android. Some people have been using their android for 7 years and counting without any single issue whereas their iPhones they've changed battery twice, face id stopped working, and a lot of other issues. Some have been using their iPhones for years too. Your point is good but not enough. My android has never failed me before and I been using them for more than a decade.

Nailed it! It is the OS restrictions for me too.
Hated Android too until Android Froyo removed nearly all restrictions. Got my first Android that year; 2010.

I like the iPhone it neat and clean but the OS restrictions and limitations on customisation almost got me depressed.. undecided
Re: Let’s Be Honest, iPhones Are Not For Everyone by Bossman(m): 6:20pm On Jun 30, 2025
Yes, I would think so. In some places like the US for example, the carriers primarily carry Iphones and Samsung. That's why those 2 devices make up about 80% of phones used in the USA, with Iphones at about 60%.

The fluidity and smoothness of Iphones can't be beaten. Also, how well it integrates with other parts of your daily activities such as your car, automated home, music playing etc., donkey years of software update, just puts it a step above the others. I have used Android in the past as well, but I just can see myself going back to an android device.

Android OS does have its advantages when it comes to tweaking and customization though.

I personally have not liked iPhones and will never. I'd go for a Google Pixel or Samsung anyday. Might look into Redmi as well. Because I can't buy expensive phone that will make me carry powerbank like life support. That being said, I do agree with you on exploring some of this new brands. They do have a lot to offer but these popular brands sell out more cos they are known

We all know that no matter how much we love the luxury, to get the high level of durability we have to pay more, but as well we have the android that can give us that durability we seek, hence we go for it.
