Tinubu’s Reforms Will Make Nigerians Abroad Want To Return, Says Youth Minister by Maxymilliano(op): 8:11pm On Jul 21, 2025
Ayodele Olawande, minister of youth development, says President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing reforms will soon make Nigeria attractive enough for citizens living abroad to return home.

Olawande spoke with journalists about the coronation anniversary of Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure, over the weekend.

He said the federal government is taking deliberate steps to reconnect young Nigerians with governance and rebuild trust in the country’s future.

Everything the president is doing now is for the future. And I promise you, in the near future, everybody will prefer to come and stay in Nigeria than remain abroad because the country is being stabilised,” the minister said.

Olawande said Nigerian youths have long felt alienated from leadership structures, but efforts are being made to close the gap through policy interventions and youth-focused programmes.

Youths have not been able to see, touch, or feel the government. But now, we are putting all structures together—skills, education, partnerships—to bring them back into the fold,” he said.

Olawande said the federal government is working towards a model that promotes productivity and employability, adding that every Nigerian should be equipped with at least two skills to navigate the evolving economy.

In Nigeria today, we are building toward a system where one Nigerian should have two skills. That way, whether you are in school or out of school, you are employable or can employ others,” he said.

The minister also spoke about his recent diplomatic engagement in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he participated in discussions around youth development and international collaboration.

He described the visit as historic and a reflection of the growing international confidence in Nigeria’s current youth policy direction.

During the coronation ceremony, the Deji of Akure honoured Olawande with a youth leadership service award, in recognition of his contributions to youth empowerment and national development.

I'll rather die in abroad than come back with my family back to Nigeria. We can only visit Nigeria for tourists and holidays.

The minister, should worry less about Nigerians abroad and worry more about Nigerians in Nigeria, we are the ones who need to feel the positive impact of the reforms first

This is pure future tense. Tinubu that's busy buying the opposition is the one that will make the country great. These people are on colo. Even Tinubu himself has nothing to offer. The only thing he can offer is the way he is luring politicians and lawmakers into APC. You guys don't even know how to sell bad market. Some will rather die in Europe than coming back to this country.

Definitely!

The days are here already. Inflation is getting high in western countries while standard of living is at an all time low.

When the current transformation of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) starts yielding fruit, Nigerians abroad will have no option that to swallow their pride and return home.

You can’t keep working like a clock to sustain that western life.

Somebody should remind this youth minister that Tinubu has just 2 years left in his tenure.

And Nigeria doesn't look like it would get better any time soon. Infact it's even getting worse.

Wait till Tinubu's tenure is over, all of 'em that praises Tinubu now will make U-turn to say Tinubu is the worst thing to happen to Nigeria after Buhari.

Even Tinubu knows that he will keep on doing his reform till he's done with his tenure. 2 years do go down. Soon third year will go and finally the 4th year and he'll be done with first tenure. If he makes it for second tenure, the circle of excuses and blame game continues until he's done with his second tenure.
