LaMujer:Quite unfortunate you were denied. I think the VO was extremely generous with his time with you, as he wanted to issue you the visa, but you failed to convince him. Here's where in my opinion, the problem is. 1. You should have said your trip was two-fold; attend your cousin's graduation and use the opportunity to holiday in the US. Here's why:- The graduation is for one day, why would you need to stay in the US for two weeks? Moreso the person graduating is a COUSIN, not sibling, not child, not spouse. 2. Your travel history:- You have only listed Mozambique, so I'm guessing the other two are insignificant. Again, when they asked what you went to do there, your response was unimpressive. You should have simply told them you went on a holiday. As a lover of African culture and nature, you can enjoy these even in Nigeria. Saying you went on holiday would have been better. 3. The VO asking for the ownership status of your home was a strong indication they wanted to issue you the visa. They never ask this question. If you have landed properties, this was the perfect opportunity to let them know. "I live in a rented apartment, but I have properties in xyz". Good luck next time. |

LaMujer:Apologies. Cousin’s graduation? No one would grant you a tourist visa of the United States in this current immigration climes of Donald Trump for this reason. Travel hx to Mozambique and other countries that don’t count would not even get you across the door. |

This response might be coming late. But i beg of you let her not stay 80days. Yes the validity of a single entry says 90days but in recent times people that stayed more than 2months were called for 22IG and refused. When i went for mine, a almost everyone as denied because of their length of stay. Yes it is not written anywhere but trust me 80days is too long. Regards Efetobore1980: |

LaMujer:■■ YOU VO: Good morning and why are you going to the US? Me: Good morning, I'm going to my cousin's graduation at Uni of MD. If this visa transcript is real, then the failure starts from here. When you are not the biological or adopted parent , or the authorized ward or direct sibling with convincing reason of attendance, there is no way any U.S. consular will issue the visa. YOU VO: What do you do for a living? Me: I'm a senior data analyst at ... U.S. visa officers are conversant with Nigeria salary level/scales. I am not disputing your salary here, but the consular may dispute it based on your highest qualification as indicated in your ds-160. Therefore, your 1.3m NGN might be funny. YOU VO: Have you been outside Nigeria before? Me: Yes, I've been to Moz, ..., and ... VO: And all these were in the last 5 years? Me: Yes, Moz in 2022 ... and ... in 2023 The visa officer was indirectly saying, " Why are you traveling all about unnecessarily? Okay, you were doing this in order to come and claim travel history points ? YOU VO: You said you visited Moz, why did you go there? Me: I'm a lover of African culture and nature. Plus, they speak Portuguese, which is closely related to Spanish, and I speak Spanish. Here, the visa officer is justified by your flimsy or unreasonable reasons. ? because you love African culture and nature...... YOU VO: Habla portugués? Me: No, hablo español (we both laughed) Unfortunately for you, the visa officer is a master in spanish, and he or she was laughing at you because you failed the verbal test woefully. If you can speak spanish averagely (which is very related to portugués) and you went to Mozambique because they speak Portuguese, so you can not reply the visa officer with " Bom dia ", (Good morning in Portuguese ) ? So you dont know any Portuguese word at all, and you traveled to Mozambique for the love of the language perhaps more than once ? YOU VO: Are you married? Me: No, I'm engaged VO: The house you stay, is it rented or you own it? When did the visa officer start asking this kind of question (the house you stay, 👆? Me: It's a rented apartment VO: Who do you live with? Me: Oh, I live with my fiancée. Anyways , you have zero ties to Nigeria. YOU Them just dey share blue paper anyhow 🤣 Didn't ask me or anyone else to see any documents, except for i20 for the F1 visas. Not even DS160s, I believe they have attached our ds160 to our passport, so the VO only ask for passport. They will share blue papers to those who are not qualified. U.S. visa is not a piece of cake. Besides, it seems you get it wrong on the DS-160. If they have attached your DS-160 to your passport, did you not see it inside your passport? The most important information to the visa officer the moment both of you meet is your DS-160 slip. Or they have stopped collecting ds160 confirmation slip. 👍 |

Africankel:Oh, I agree, he was extremely generous. Didn't ask most people more than 3 or 4 questions. 1, yeah, I could have. But as have been stated previously not to do too much unnecessary shalaye. How was I supposed to know he wouldn't ask me later on "what other plans do you have?" As I heard him in particular, ask some other applicants? He asked a question, I answered him. I didn't need to do shalaye for a question I genuinely expected him to ask onward. 2, the other 2, South Africa and Turkey are insignificant? Well, you said you guessed, that's fair. You said, "you can enjoy these in Nigeria too". I disagree, for example, can you get a safari experience in Nigeria? People travel outside for different reasons. And whatever it is you want to do outside, can be very well done in Nigeria by that measure. 🤷🏿♂️ 3, yeah, I guessed my reply was weak room I later on thought I could have said I own a mortgage. But what's done, is done. Thanks for your input |

Efetobore1980:1, lol, people get Visas for seeing a mere friend, but it's going to see your cousin related by blood that's a failure because you're not the biological parent. Okay naa. Well done sir. 👍🏿 2, Well, you said you're not disputing my salary, and you don't know what my highest qualification is. That's fair enough. 3, I'll leave that unreplied too4, no, he was just curious why I went to moz. If he was bothered, he'd have asked why I went to Turkey or SA. But people go there regularly, don't they? But how frequent do Nigerians go to Moz? That's the reason for the question. Sometimes, it's not that deep. 5, you didn't hear the VO speak, so, no, he's not a "master" speaker Spanish. I know what master of Spanish or Portuguese sound. Again, he asked a simple question, if I speak Portuguese, and I replied that I don't. VO: Do you speak Portuguese? Me: Good morning(again?), no I speak Spanish. But I have been learning it for years now and speak fluently and bla bla bla. Really , like, really? He asked a direct question, I didn't stop at no. I replied him in the language in a full sentence, but yeah, it's not good enough. Because why would it be good enough?6, I can't argue otherwise 7, Nope, they don't ask for DS160 again. I stated it earlier. We did multiple scanning and thumbprint. They must have put the DS160 on something that they scanned. It's just a simple, "can I have your passport", or, "pass me your passport". |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by LaMujer: 12:31pm On Jul 22, 2025 |
giselle237:I find this misleading, really. People get Visas with 0 travel history, but travel history to a country in Southern Africa is pointless. Like Efe said, I didn't demonstrate enough home ties. It has absolutely nothing to do with going to Maputo, or going to Canada. There was a woman ahead of me who has been to UK multiple times, got denied. There was someone who has been to Canada, got denied. Mozambique or Fiji Islands really isn't the issue. Why did you go there, is more of the issue. These things are not that deep |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by LaMujer: 12:33pm On Jul 22, 2025 |
Also Efetobore1980 if my DS160 isn't sturdy, he wouldn't go about asking me questions upon questions. Most people don't cross 4 questions, even F1 visas. I went almost 10 questions? My ds160 is sturdy. Saying I didn't convince the VO enough to give it to me, or that I didn't establish home ties, I agree. |

LaMujer:■■ Go back to my original answer and look at how I started .. If this transcript is real.. which i knew its not a practical transcript. It was formulated in order to cause unnecessary arguments. But why did you not get the visa as you have now turned to our teacher ? A genuine transcript will attract different opinions and you will pick whatever you want. Go back and get the visa . No need of fighting us. 😀 |

The one I saw in page 100 is the procedure of someone that wanted to change confirmation number on already booked appointment. My own case is that I have paid for visa fee and my page is telling me receipt not found which I can't book appointment due to that reason and I have raised a lot of tickets, I have called, sent email no response and I don't know what else to do. Pls help |

I requested that my DS-160 be updated on my appointment, but I still see the old one on the AVITS site. I received an email confirmation, but the applicant info is blank. Is this normal? Does it mean only the Group URN is required?

Follyfy:■■ My answer (as attached) said from page 100 which means you should start studying the page till you get to the last. I did not tell you to go and look at page 100 for the solution. Meanwhile , you have twisted your question here. In your initial question (attached) you did not mention that you have sent any email that was why I directed you to where you will see the email format. Where did you send the email to and how did you send it ? If you have trully sent the email according to Lagos or Abuja Visa Navigator directive then there is no more solution. Just keep waiting and cheking.

k2039:■■ You are supposed to receive another email (which will enable you to download a new visa appointment letter) aside of the confirmation email. You can bypass this or if the 2nd email fails to come. Login to your avits and download another visa appointment letter. Open the letter and see if it display your new ds-160 confirmation #. ■● Your Group URN is confusing here. Only family members can apply as a group from Nigeria. Besides just follow the directive. ■ Except if you have any other info to share. 👍 |

Africankel:@Africanboy. Thank you for coming out . I know many people out there (like yourself) will be having it difficult to break up that proverbial reply. Lets break it up.. EFE. Every country count in terms of travel history. Your purpose of visit is of utmost importance. U.S. embassy never label any country as a not sufficient country to travel to. We are the ones labeling countries as poor or local. If the United States government can have an embassies in Ghana, Togo. Uganda etc then such country is a sovereign nation. EFE ■ If Nairaland Nigeria sends you to Ghana, South Africa and Togo on official errands within 3 - years. You will have a better travel history than a multimillionaire who have been to Canada, UK and Germany for holidays or unnecessary funs. May be you are underrating Nairaland. Okay if NNPC Nigeria sends you as a representative- staff to attend conferences in the aforementioned countries in the span of 3 years, dont you think you have a good travel history and purpose than a self-made traveler who visits Canada, Germany and UK for holiday ? EFE Nowadays, traveling unnecessarily to all countries without any reasonable reasons makes you a suspect at the U.S embassies. United States government have changed their games with terrorists, fraudsters, money launderers, etc. These people are well-educated , they have scientists, they have lots of money to spend and their major weapon is networking. How do they network ? By communication and traveling. ■ Now tell me how will you not be screened and focused on at the U.S embassy when you have travelled to 5 countries for fun/pleasure within 2 years ? ▪︎▪︎ No competition , no abusive or insult. Elders in the house can start checking this out. 👍 |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Opeyemi007: 4:14pm On Jul 22, 2025 |
I really don't think traveling to multiple countries could contribute to an application being refused provided you're not spending an unreasonable amount of time out of the country/from work. If you're able to do multiple countries within your granted leave or your personal time off, it shouldn't be a problem. In 2023, I did UK Thrice(at different times), France, Greece, Amsterdam, Italy and my US Visa was approved. All that matters is you're not spending too much time away from Work/Family as they serve as ties. Efetobore1980: |

giselle237:■■ Please log back. Come and tell us what happened to a Nigerian who was denied U.S visa inside of Canada ? I have many empirical evidences of this including UK and Australia? ■▪︎▪︎ Can you give us the official list of countries the United States of America officially mentioned as appropriate for you to travel to before you can be certified as a well traveled or a traveler ? ■▪︎▪︎ @giselle. Your argument seems to be based on names or beauty. Are you saying a Professor of Mathematics from University of Nigeria will not be well-rated like a Professor of Mathematics from Cambridge University ? ■●▪︎ I stand on my points. Any sovereign nation ie Somalia, Nigeria, Gabon , Germany. Canada, UK, Ghana etc are equal in ratings in terms of " Have you traveled out of your country before ? Many world billionaires and wealthy people have homes in those countries you are underrating. Genuineness and Reasonable purpose for travel is of utmost importance. 👍 |
