qleap2all:“go back to school” the favorite line of those who think quoting big reserve numbers automatically means progress. Nigeria’s external reserves just hit $40.11 billion? Great! Now can they be sliced, fried, and served as breakfast? Because until those billions start reflecting in stable food prices, affordable fuel, and naira that doesn’t faint at the sight of the dollar, it’s just glorified accounting. You see, while you’re cheering 9.5 months of import cover, the average Nigerian is busy covering 30 days of hunger and unpaid bills. Maybe it’s not us who need the economics refresher maybe it’s you who needs a crash course in human impact. Reserves are high, but so is hardship. Let’s not mistake foreign confidence for local well-being. |

No. Dangote refinery did. Imagine marketters going to CBN for forex to import fuel for half of West Africa. Dangote afforded CBN the space to close ratea n reduce lobbying. |

pharmagba:Apparently, while the Central Bank is busy celebrating $40.11 billion in external reserves, the average Nigerian is supposed to fight inflation with a hoe and cutlass. Beautiful logic. Let’s be honest: reserves are up, but so is the price of garri. The FX buffer might impress foreign investors, but it doesn’t pay school fees or put fuel in the generator. So no, planting tomatoes won’t fix systemic economic mismanagement band external reserves don’t magically become dinner on anyone’s table. If all it takes is backyard farming to survive, maybe the government should just resign and let farmers run the economy. At least they produce something real. |

lawbabs:We've moved from change is coming to leap is coming. Now it’s 2026–2027 mark your calendars! Yes, external reserves have hit over $40 billion. Fantastic headline. But forgive Nigerians if they’re not dancing in the streets—because last we checked, you can’t withdraw “foreign currency buffer” at the ATM or cook it for dinner. They said the economy will be knowledge-based lovely. But knowledge doesn't stop food prices from rising or rent from doubling. And while you're telling people to "prepare for opportunities," maybe also tell them how to survive today. Because right now, all this “big leap” talk feels more like a long jump over the real problems people are facing hunger, joblessness, and the shrinking value of their naira. But sure… let’s blame it all on “hatred” and not the disconnect from reality. |

free2ryhme:If only you can think outside the box you will have money in your pocket. The CBN information tell us that at the macro level the economy is being managed well. The land belong to state Governors, you can as well well go to your state Governor or local govt for other support. |
| Re: CBN Reforms Ended Lobbying For Foreign Exchange – BUA Chairman, Rabiu by free2ryhme: 5:53pm On Jul 22, 2025 |
pharmagba:“Think outside the box”as if creativity alone can turn external reserves into breakfast. We keep hearing about billions in reserves and “macroeconomic stability,” yet somehow, food prices are still climbing, rent is choking people, and salaries remain stuck in 1999. If the economy is doing so well “at the macro level,” maybe someone should remind the macro economy that Nigerians are living in the micro level where it actually matters. And about going to state governors for support, funny how they suddenly become relevant when the federal government is called out. So CBN can announce surplus, but feeding my family is now my LGA chairman’s job? If external reserves can’t make life better for real people, then it’s just numbers on a screengood for headlines, not for households.

Any shit that does not translate to affordable food on the table of Nigerians is shear fallacy. Bua and fellow Northern Oligarchs are responsible for the mess under Buhari and Emefiele, when our forex was juggled upandan. |

Best President Nigeria has had since independence. As a corporate lawyer, many of my clients are buzzing with new projects and investments. Young, educated, and visionary- they're investing aggressively. If Mr Tinubu wins in 2017, and the government continues with the steady policy approach, then the reward for those investing now will be massive in a few years time. The downside of a wholesale free market economy is that many will not be able to participate and survive the cut throat free market economy that Nigeria is becoming. That is where the government needs to step in with assistance for those hampered by lack of necessary skills, old age, poor education etc However if you have the resources this is the best time to go out and invest. The economy is doing very well in some sectors ![]() |

babztee:Floating the Naira and removing fuel subsidies were the correct policies that should have been implemented in 1999. The Tinubu government failure is not building on those funds by investing the saving from the reforms into social development across Nigeria. Nigeria needs regional restructuring the entire north contribute nothing to Nigeria economy |

lawbabs:Tinubu campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015. Tinubu's boys were at the helms of economic affairs under Buhari. Please let's be honest with our utterances, especially on a public forum. |

Gerrard59:Who was the minister of finance under Buhari? Who was the Attorney General, who didn't have anything before 2015 and built a rice mill by 2023? Who was the Governor of CBN, who was printing Naira at the demand of the cabal and the Minister of Finance as their boyboy? The impact of their atrocities is what we are seeing currently. In 2023 before the election, those of us that follow economic direction predicted what we are facing now. I remember making a presentation to my Executive Management after Tinubu won the election that the kind of backlash he will get by the time the impact of the mismanagement of exchange rate, the printing of money by Emefiele, and the impending stoppage of subsidy / floating of the currency would do to an average family in Nigeria. And I would be foolish not to acknowledge these real challenges. But I am persuaded that from the last quarter of this year, things will peak again. |
