Governor Dapo Abiodun didn't try atal.. he should have used diplomatic means to find middle ground in such situation.
Inviting soldiers to intimidate traditional worshippers in their State is first a breach of the constitution of Nigeria and a violation of the fundamental human rights of those traditionalists to practice whichever religion they want.

Nothing is special about muslim clerics that warrants inviting Military to chase out those of other faiths. Poor conflict resolution from the State Government.

It is high time these if a people or whatever they call themselves stop this nonsense.
It is even against my human rights for you to force your stupid idolatry practices on me when I am dead.
If It were in the olden days, nobody will oppose them but in this 24th century,it is unheard of.
The whites too had cannibalistic cultures but they had let go of them.Reason why they are more civilised and developed than some Africans that want to die in the stone age.
Did you offer him this advice when he was being coronated according to that same Ifa tradition?
During his enthronement rite, did they used the Arabic religion or traditional religion to perform in it?
If no,then why the glamour for him to be buried according to Islamic rites and not Ifa rites?

Was the idolatry practices not performed on the king before entronement?
Then they should stop it.
Most of those kings would prefer to be dealt with according to what they profess as religion but these traditionalists usually force them and say it is the tradition.
Why are they not keeping to tradition in their daily activities too.
Most of them now transport themselves using modern methods.
It is satanic to cling to these idolatry practices.
They should fear the Omnipotent, the Omnipresent..

The Oba had a right to be buried intact, not to be butchered in the name of traditional customs. .
Africa will move forward when we choose to leave behind some certain customs.
If European countries retained their pagan beliefs, I doubt if we would be rushing there in troops by now.
Africa should move forward by adopting European culture and leave their tradition behind?

Did China and India leave their traditional worship behind? Only Africa! That's why the continent is backwards.

What's wrong teaching mathematics in our own language like other serious nations? No because we have lost our identity. Shame

Was the idolatry practices not performed on the king before entronement? He should have rejected it from the onset. If you can't stand the heat from the kitchen, why enter in the first place? Our hypocrisy in this country stinks to high heavens.

When a decision is made by govt which seems to infringe or the rights of Christians or Islam, each party would begin to cry islamization or christianization of the country but the same people are pressing the necks of traditional worshippers denying them of their rights of worship. It's a shame.

Did they perform the idolatry thing when he was given birth to?
This is the end of his sojourn on earth not out of throne.
They should respect his wishes.

Historically speaking, Kingship as we know it is not a religious affair but traditional. The fact that you accepted to be crowned a king means you are bound by that tradition.

Why should harmless culture be stopped?. Christianity and Islam also have what can be called idolatry. Bowing down to the statue of saints is what?. Killing people over the desecration of the Quran is what. They term our culture as idolatry but there is nothing wrong in idolatry itself. Only evil is wrong. God can not say don't worship other Gods just like I can't tell my kids don't greet other people. It is not right to extinguish a culture because of religion and a King sits atop the culture.

Horribly terrible set of people. You knew that was a traditional title and yet poke your nose for the benefits and you wants to eat your cake and have it back.

It's not their fault or those that made laws that will totally erase who we are, our identity and culture. very naive sycophants everywhere in power.

By the time all your cultural affiliations have been completely eroded or exported or even deleted by your imported religion , you will cry and not see help. Already the south Americans are doing great with your isese and building up their countries but you're here copying another man's religion fanatically .

Ogun state is so so unlucky with these set of anyhow people. Awon olojukokoro, akotileta gbogbo.

You will all soon be using money to watch masquerade and igunuko . Awon di di rin

The asked you to do away with masquerade, agemo, yet they gave you eleha and father Christmas, they told you polygamy is bad yet they gave you gayism , lesbianism .. Weldon ooo. Congratulations once again

There is nothing like foreign religion, baba.
Those idolatry religions have lots of darkness that depict that they are devilish.
They do most of their activities in the dark and secretly.
Christianity and Islam are done in the open.

Have you ever joined them in doing it, everything you know about it is through movies and word of mouth. Do gun kill people itself? No, people uses gun to kill people. Gun isn't demonise because it kills but we Africans can demonise something we are supposed to utilise to bring development.

People like Sikiru Adetona should never be crowned as kings in the first place; once you prioritize your western/eastern religious beliefs ahead of the cultural norms and spiritual practices of the town, don't even contest for the royal stool

Kingmakers need to stop being greedy and keep such hypocrites away from our traditional institutions
Goodluck finding "people" who don't follow Christianity or Islam around here.

I don't think Mr Adetona had any problem with tradition per se. I think it's just some secret rituals that may involve beheadings that his majesty disagreed with. It's a good first step in my view. Takeaway from all this: The best way to preserve our traditions is to rid them of harmful practices that any person of good conscience and Omoluabi ethos is bound to have problems with. It's not too hard.

It's well with our tradition..

You saw what an Oba entails...you decided to run the race, do all of the rites and became one..

You enjoyed the authority and all affluence attached to the throne...

You performed traditional rites and all..
Everything dey sweet you

When you come see say you are nearing old age and death is knocking, you used your position to change the goal post and severe the relationship with the tradition...you chose 'foreign' rites over traditional rites.

Well, this one is gone...the Afobaje's should ensure the next possible Awujale go sign agreement not to go against Tradition under any guise. This should be part of requirements.

If you can't sign this... It's not by force...leave Oba stool alone
When was he named Sikiru? At birth or old age? It is glaring that traditionalists are becoming insane in their pursuit of their religion, but what amazes one is the stupidity of others queuing behind them just because it is a case against Islam. Many obas had died and buried in a Christian way, no one coughed.

Anyone with Christian or Muslim name should be automatically discouraged to join the race to Kingship. Investigate them very well before allowing them become candidates. Some of the Kingmakers are only interested in money. This is usually the cause. Just like that one in Iwo. Complete embarrassment that suppose to be dethroned.
