I like both. I like players that can offer a better alternative to the offensive role that Enzo plays. Both can, but I prefer Rogers for athleticism and ready PL experience.

That said, there's a serious player in Xavi at 22.

I pay attention to cogent stats. Xavi makes 2.1 Key Passes per 90 and 2.5 Key Passes into the opp Pen Area per 90. To put things in perspective, Palmer average 2.3 and 1.88 respectively for the same stats.

2.26 shots per 90 with 40% on target. Palmer ranks at 3.35 and 36% respectively. Xavi has the advantage of more progressive carries per 90 than Palmer and Enzo.

Defensive Shift, Xavi is doing 5.25 ball recoveries per 90 1.3v tackles which trumps defensive contributions of any offensive players in Chelsea from last season, including Enzo.

Flexible, multi-discipline, high- intensity pressing player that can play across the forward line. He's a classic Maresca player.

It remains to be seen if he can translate these stats into the PL.

Another thing I noticed again this summer is that most of the attackers we are bringing into the squad have good ball striking ability, physicality and pressing ability. I think the board seeing how good maresca performed last season are trying to give him what he wants, not in terms of specific players but player profiles.

Am I being too pessimistic by not expecting a specific position finish in the league but rather a point tally target ? Let's say a 75 - 80 point season with a cup win. I believe we are a year behind due to the wasted season under lemon man and although maresca did well to put us on track last season , I still think we are a season behind being genuine title contenders or winners

united were dulling the deal, if they had approached jackson or watkins, which would make villa want jackson in turn rogers may have entered the conversation but it's all good, xavi is a great and cheaper alternative
