I have said this and maintain that the best way to deal with the Ibos is to give them the referrendum they shout about. They are the biggest beneficiaries of Nigeria, when the thought of leaving Nigeria hits them, you will see them lobbying to remain in Nigeria.

Nobody needs Nigeria more than the Ibos and Fulanis. every other race can survive without Nigeria.

Whatever the ibos claim they are facing in Nigeria is of their own doing. personally i think ibos are just gaslighting. You are the ones who removed referendum, abolished regionalism introduced unified central government and civil service (so you could send your ibo brothers into the civil service all over the country), you are the ones who abolished regional government, they are the ones who brought in the military, they are the ones who caused a civil war, and so on and so on and now they are ones trying to claim indigineship in other people's land. You are expansionists and you have always been.

Ibo land is not big or productive enough for the ibos, Zik, ironsi and all your leaders knew this, thats why Hope And Kalu are now trying to force this indigene law. All this one they are shouting referendum is because they know it cant happen under our constitution. Like I said they are the ones who made sure there was no referendum in our constitution. Everybody else wanted it. it was there before! it was Zik that insisted on a no secession clause, to the point he insisted any acts or calls for secession be classified as treason.

I have said it many times....call their bluff and give them the referendum.

the delusion you live under is that you are wanted or desired. it couldn't be further from the truth. let me explain to you why the powers that be fought the civil war and refuse to let you go.

why they fought then:

1: At the time of the war, the majority of oil producing areas were under the eastern region. not ibo land but under the eastern region...big difference.
2: that was the reason 12 states was created to remove the oil regions from under Ojukwu's control. He had to secede before the newly appointed Governors of east central and Rivers state took office.
3: it was the loss of control over the oil producing regions that forced Ojukwu to secede and it was to retain the Oil that forced Gowon to fight.
4: if it were just the Ibos, they would have let you go. they didnt fight a war to keep you in Nigeria, they fought a war to keep the Oil in Nigeria
5: Note the Oil is not ibo Oil, it is SS Oil but at that time was under ibo control.

why dont they let you go today?

the reason they (specifically the fulanis) wont let you go today is because you killed their leader Sardauna and ever since, they have not had a unifying leader. Their fear (the fulanis) is that if a section of the country breaks way, minority groups in the North of which there are many will also break away from the North and thus they will lose the empire of their ancestor Usman Dan Fodio. Secondly, it will also deny them acces to the sea. Considering you have no Oil and you have no sea, common sense will tell you, that you have no real value to them. To prove the point. Contrast how they deal with Niger Delta millitants and how they deal with IPOB. One has value, one doesnt.

So you see it is not because you are desired, it is not because they care if you leave, it is the possible effect on the North that they continue to tolerate you.

dont get it twisted. 1967 was because of Oil and today it is to maintain Northern "unity". It's like having to drive through Ore to get to benin, its not because you love Ore, its because Ore is a path to your destination
