The hatred an average Anambra man has for his Ebonyi counterpart is legendary, it's so visible that the Anambra man makes jest and mockery of his counterpart at every given opportunity.

If you visit let's say Onitsha and introduce yourself as an Ebonyian, you don buy market be dat grin
You would be subjected to all manner of mockery, derogatory words will be thrown at you as if you have done something wrong__your only crime is being an Ebonyian.
They will mock you and tag you 'Nwa Abakeleke' grin everybody is from Abakeleke. Their ignorance won't allow them to understand that not every Ebonyian is from Abakeleke same way not every Anambrarian is from Awka.

A whole lot of places especially in the metropolitan areas in Onitsha don't rent out their houses again to Ebonyians yet, they all claim to be Igbos.
They are very angry and annoyed and even questioned why an Ebonyi man (Ekpa) should be the one spearheading Biafra's agitation in the absence of Kanu.
The truth here is that they see an Ebonyi man as way below them. An Anambra man might give up Biafra just because an Ebonyi man is the champion.
If there should be anything like Biafra, there would be a terrible implosion. It would be a clash of egos, what is being witnessed in Nigeria might be a child's play because the 'timid' Ebonyians as referred to by Anambrarians are waking up and won't just allow anyone to bully them. I don't think an Enugu man will allow that too, neither will an Imo or Abia man.
There would be a clash of interests.
On this little topic, you turn yours fingers to typewriter. O ga oooo.

I just copied your comment and kept safe somewhere. Very apt to the highest level.
Their ignorance will not even allowed them know that Not all EBOYIANS ARE FROM ABAKALIKI, Abakaliki is not even up to 25% of EBOYIANS and they have conveyed this horrendous hatred to even little Children who now sees Ebonyi people as inferior when in actual sense it is not. Every State has average and high standards citizens
Icankel is still living in delusion.

Go to Onitsha and tell them you are from Ebonyi, you are automatically a 'wawa' person.
I hate people who shy away from the truth.

While I have no business with who names what street and that street, I have to honestly disagree with the old man who said he named the street Abakaliki street as far back as 1950.
Awka was a village and an outpost of the colonial administration in 1950.
Awka actually began to take shape when it was made the state capital in 1991. Not long after that I stayed briefly in Awka there was nothing like Abakaliki street. Infact it wasn't until the early 2000 that that part of Awka began to open to students of Unizik seeking hostel accommodation. Before then there was Regina Caeli hospital (a Catholic mission hospital) on the other side and then JAMB office on a then lonely road that leads to Okpuno then further to Mgbakwu. The rest of the area was thick bush from the express inward.
So when did papa name the street Abakaliki street in 1950?

What are they still waiting for? They should do quick and rename them fast fast. I don't understand the obsession that these Ebonyi people have with Anambra. Anambra and Ebonyi don't even have anything in common be it natural boundaries, origin, language etc. And the truth is that Ebonyi are not really Igbos. You will confirm this when you listen to their strange language that sounds more like Hausa and nothing like Igbo.
So Ebonyi is no longer Igbo? undecided

Inukwa! grin

That's the whole reason simon ekpa didn't receive half the support they gave nnamdi kanu.

They abuse ekpa for the same reasons they idolize kanu.

tinubu is renaming everywhere in abuja after him and and renamed somewhere after wole soyinka. Are they from abuja? undecided
What school did you graduate from?

The international Airport in Abuja is named after Nnamdi Azikiwe, is he from Abuja too?

WS and Tinubu are dignitaries and thats perfectly OK. There are even hostels, Event centers and Streets named after notable Non-Yoruba people in the SW and people dont ask for it to be renamed

This topic is about renaming just any street bearing Anambra name in Abakaliki. Again, just any random names

This isnt rocket science. Stop bringing Tinubu to it

The name Club road is more befitting given the array of clubs and other entertainment venues in that area. The new name is here to stay. Even Google Maps has also effected the name change in their App. Ebonyi state government can go ahead and do whatever they want but they should be careful about blowback due to the large number of Ebonyi indigenes who have taken refuge in Anambra state both in urban and rural areas.
Why is it so easy to gaslight an Igbo man why why why

Seun, this character is constantly impersonating Igbo with the evil intention of causing hatred and division. That's an indirect way to break nairaland rules. Please take note.
