How can Cameroon and Liberia be considered as richer than Nigeria ! The list is GDP not national wealth.

India is wealthier than most of the nations in the EU but due to its over 1B population the GDP would reflect lower.

GDP can be a very deceptive an incorrect way to represent the sovereign wealth of a nation rather it can only help to understand the distribution of wealth but in itself it is not the only means to understand the socio economic circumstances of the population.

That's per Capita GDP. Cameroon , Liberia and Benin have populations that are not up to even one eighth of ours . That's why they have higher per Capita GDP.

But even then they are poor. Very poor. I've seen videos of Liberia and Cameroonian and Benin cities. They look like Nigerian ones.

I have known this for some years now - NIGERIA IS NOT AS RICH AS THEY MADE US TO BELIEVE. We have the natural resources but we are not controlling our population growth. It is not about one party, President or the other. It is about the corporate mentality. The region growing Nigeria population exponentially is the North. Until we sit down and have a discussion about population, we simply will be getting poorer. The problem with having this discussion is RELIGION. Once you move for this discussion, the North will reach out for religion and it will destabilize the country quickly. NO PERSON can resolve the Nigerian problem, except all Nigerians are ready to embrace the truth. (I don't take ANY politician serious about promises to make Nigeria prosperous because I know they all know that it is a LIE!) All the economic policy of any government will grow GDP, but uncontrolled population growth will undermine it. 2 things really show you true financial strength of a nation - the budget and the GDP PER CAPITAL, as a country, both are not looking good!

Fake and substandard drugs and drinks from certain people and region flooded our market everyday and forcing the genuine producers out of market. What of hard drugs traffickers who are spoiling our name outside the country, how will investors from outside the country come and invest in our country which in turn will boost our economy and make us rich.

For a very long time we ignored everything and focused on oil, that is simply not wise. Another thing, we need to be aggressive in making sure electricity is available and stable. Energy is crucial to economic development.

the answer in summary is = north had a continuous deficit balance of payment yearly until 1914..

which means all the money north including all the 19 states in the north has been getting since 1914 to 2025 has been the surplus of southern Nigeria's wealth ( which also means all the I:G:R reports are fake especially the ones from the north ).

which also means if southern Nigeria's surplus can take care of 19 states in the north then if 1914 amalgamation never happened southern Nigeria would have no poverty at all ..

and in 1914, Crude oil had not been found in Southern Nigeria yet.. so imagine how well that surplus improves after 1960..

Nigeria is broke because since independence, we have been running an economy based on resource dependency. And under tinubu nothing has changed.

1) before the br:itish left Nigeria, the Br:itish from 1820 - 1960 did not build one university, our number of primary and secondary schools were very low, br:itish did not build smooth roads all over Nigeria , no housing estates, no plans for clean water for communities, no hospitals, no universities, no teaching hospitals, no vocational centers, no power plants, majority of the private companies where owned by the br:itish and they only gave Nigerians clerical work which is what the education system they gave us is meant to produce office assistants.


All the developments you see in Nigeria today from Abuja to lagos to calabar to Akwa-ibom to oyo to Enugu e.t.c are all built by Nigerians, our parents, our grand parents e.t.c the br:itish left Nigeria to rot. Everything you had and have the privilege of enjoying in Nigeria was and is through the hardwork of parents, grand parents, and other Nigerians.

2) the bri:tish leave the people more devastated than they earlier met them. If not for the hardwork and peaceful nature of our ancestors in southern Nigeria, southern Nigerians will be in poverty because the bri:tish created Nigeria in a way where Northern and Southern Nigeria will engage in endless wars...

3) after over 140 years in Nigeria.. the british did nothing for Nigeria and Nigerians..

The nations where their GDP is a reflection of true living standards of over 75% of the population are few, the Scandinavian countries are one example, nations like the USA where there is a large percentage of the population who are below the poverty line for instance have a high GDP but still have millions living in functional poverty
