French, an ally with America? No no no. They'll fill all the stations with LGBTQ-related contents, including cartoon. It's now we're going to know the meaning of Multichoice logo.

Be careful here

Canal + is owned by a far right xenophobe Bolloré with colonialist mindset who made his money stealing from Francophone countries and hates Africans at the same time

His news channels in France are used by Canal + to spread xenophobic and hate content 24 hours on news TV in France

They also love increasing subscription prices every year

This transaction effectively creates an African media monopoly Vis a vis content creators/owners (football leagues, movie studios music and film producers or labels) and also a Monopoly vis a vis customers via exclusive distribution rights

That this transaction was allowed to pass is befuddling

These guys are here to spread far right propaganda in Africa and to make money via Monopoly
So what happens if you decide not to watch or is it by force.
Who says we can't dump Canal+?
Anglophone is not Francophone, we don't take shit.

Trust Nigeria to boycott their services again and force them to sell to another preferred bidder.
Their target is always Nigerian market and nothing more, we are waiting for them.

Multichoice has finally dumped their failing business on an unsuspecting French company. Multichoice staffers will be smiling all the way to the bank now.

I hope the French media company did their due diligence before acquiring Multichoice and that they have a solid strategy for rescuing the company
Canal + never does their due diligence, this is how a completely dead Iroko TV was sold to them and they have been regretting till date and again they have bought a dead DSTV in a very good deal for Multichoice
Re: Canal+ Acquires Multichoice In $3 Billion Deal, Gains Full Control Of DStv by PriceActionZ: 7:27am On Jul 24, 2025
They might reduce the price but they will force many french stations on country like Nigeria. That's when they will totally get it wrong. Even most of their football channel is french speaking. It's too late for it. They don't have much content. DStv too ran out of content and became a gossip Channel. Majority of french speaking countries won't subscribe to canal TV talkless of paying for their premium. I will see how they will appease to Nigerians , their biggest market that has lost interest totally with DStv services not to talk of hard economic seasons.

I don't trust Nigerians. They easily adapt and adopt anything as long as America or their allies are the one promoting it.

They've even adapted to Bobrisky and they love him. Canal+ will wait till Trump leaves office before they'll start pushing their agenda.

Also, no station in their channel will say anything good about Burkina Faso or any African countries. The moment you do, they cut you off.

DSTV is not the cause that you have eaten but Tinubucomics, he built Lagos, so he expects to build Nigeria. I remember when GEJ time, I used to subscribe 6 months or yearly package, but not now light let a lone subscription.

Canal+ is the cable satellite feature in French West Africa. They have been around for decades. There is nothing "unsuspecting" about them. They know the business in and out.

this your comparison is senseless. Will Canal + also be conducting election and forcing their services on us like the government does? If we decide not to buy and use their services will they force it on us like the government does?

Who wan try naija dem? Dey never born that African. South Africans thought they can eat their cake and It appears South Africans believed they could have their cake and eat it too. Despite the xenophobic behavior directed at Nigerians base in their country, Forgetting that we are MultiChoice's largest subscriber keep the company alive over here in Nigeria. Lesson 101, the company is now gone due to the disconnection of 1.4 million subscribers. This serves as a significant lesson.

Until we understand that money holds no value in itself... Everyone want to control the media, and to the Europe, printing few francs to achieve this isn't a problem.

They buy strategic business not just for business expansion but for strategic positioning... My thought though!

The other day in Nigeria, it was MainOne cables.

Nigeria is one of the biggest market for Multi choice. The increase in tarriff is due the epileptic power supply and the economy of the country.

Canal plus will face similar challenges and how they react will be interesting. But I know for sure that Canal plus is not a Philanthropist.

They will all be relieved of their positions minus some managers, Canal + will bring in new workers who will command less fees that way reduce operating cost

Time to finally get rid of my subscription. French movies are literal artistic slop. We’ll now get Hollywood offerings almost two years longer than scheduled. Multichoice has done its worst. At least they enjoyed the market for decades.

All what nigerians are asking for is value for money and let services rendered be equivalent to money paid for subscriptions

I hope this canal plus would be able to do their magic and woo back lost customers in Nigeria
Their only magic would be hinged on pay as you go package. If not, they should forget it
