I came across a disturbing report making the rounds – Ekiti State University (EKSU) is allegedly charging ₦125,000 for graduates to collect their original certificates. That school is one of the major source of income for that state the state is too small to exist on its own

After paying millions in school fees
You still pay 125k for your own certificate

When you realize that in Nigeria

Many of these certificates will never be collected if they don't review the fees. After collecting school fees for at least four years, i will now pay for certificate. Nawa oo

Nigerian Universities have become a revenue generating agency under our corrupt government.

ASUU, NANS and other agencies that should have stopped this menance are all toothless dogs who only bark without biting.

After person don suffer to graduate, he'll now pay such a huge sum to collect the certificate whilst still unemployed. Nigeria's future is very bleak!

I collected my own certificate with the sum of 28K, ten years after I graduated. Na them even send am through courier to our office address. Na who dem wan whyne?

Nobody should ask me how I've been working without certificate o, I no get power to explain abeg. I'm having a headache in my stomach please.

I am telling you what I did. I only got my statement of result. My transcript and certificate are cloned and I have used it to work for 3 multinationals in 3 different continents.

I always get annoyed reading this kind of news. What any institutions taking this kind of money is doing is fraud, which must be looked into. This is stealing from innocent students by trick. Even if the institutions are looking for a way to get IGR, not in this way. So if a student could not raise 125k he or she stand to loose what he sweat for or he or she got a job where he need to present his or her certificate he or she will loose the job because he or she couldn't afford 125k.

It's a no brainer. It's pure extortion that has been condoned for so long because those that are to question and kick against it are more concerned about winning 2027 elections. Besides, na their people dey power, so it's fine if they do what they like without thinking the impact on the larger populace. It's in Nigeriai know you pay for both the resource, the process and the result and even post results. Extortion, left, right, up, down, center everywhere. They dont want to be responsible for anything. Just keep talking and collecting from those that don't have anything.

Hope NELFUND payment will extends to certificate collection, so that they will complete the cycle.
