Abia Indigene Gets Appointed as Anambra’s Accountant General.

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed Mr. Joachim Achor, a native of Abia State, as the Accountant General of Anambra State.

This appointment marks a decisive departure from the longstanding tradition of reserving top government positions exclusively for state indigenes and reinforces the Soludo administration’s commitment to meritocracy and inclusion.


Since assuming office in 2022, Governor Soludo has consistently demonstrated a bold and reformist vision by appointing non-indigenes into critical roles in his government, including as Permanent Secretaries—an unprecedented development in the political history of the state.

Mr. Achor’s elevation is not just symbolic; it is the culmination of a remarkable journey marked by resilience, professional excellence, and steadfast dedication to public service within the Anambra State Civil Service.

My thoughts is that this type of deliberate collaboration has to be encouraged in the East where by there could be staff exchange between Eastern state governments, say Anambra, imo , Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia have a talent exchange programs where the best staff probably doctors or mechanical, civil engineers etc are exchanged to transfer skills to neighboring states for some 6 months to 1 year . It will be a sabbatical leave for the staff and will enable him to impact skills to staff of neighboring states. This in my humble opinion will help cross fertilization of ideas and all round development.

That's the way we roll in Anambra and the South East in general!

Things like this can only be an issue in the south east since employing Igbos from another state is foreign to Igbo. That's is why any eye-service appointment will always get to front page. Things like this has be a norm for so long in the south west that it carries no meaning again. Apart from ceremonial eye-service government appointment which I commend Soludo for, can 10 Igbo names from other Igbo states that are enrolled into Anambra civil service be pasted ?

Hope it is not because of Ebonyians calling out Anambrans for killing their business men that calls for this eye-service appointment at the end of the tenure to spit Ebonyians. Whatever the case, it is still a good gesture because something must be done because of something. Good one Soludo

I feel sad seeing posts like this. Nigeria really did a good job of splintering Ndigbo. So it's now a big deal for Igbo to be appointed in an Igbo state? What you all don't understand is that states were created in Nigeria because of Ndigbo. You people are playing into the hands of Igbophobes by supporting disunity among Igbo, the most maligned tribe in this country that should see one another as one.
