I was scheduled for 221G appointment after IW. But I am trying to reschedule as requested but am not seeing that option on the website. Is there anyone currently having same challenge? I have created a support ticket no response yet, does anyone know how I can go about this? Thanks

Rescheduling your 221g is the same thing as rescheduling your normal appointment. There is no new option that will appear. You are just meant to reschedule the interview that gave you the Dropbox date in the first place .

Exactly! The challenge is I don’t see the rescheduling option.

It looks like you have to hold on. It’s has not even updated to reflect 221g on the appointment. Because that needs to happen first for you to reschedule to 221g dates which will be closer than regular interview dates

My 221g people in Lagos , be checking avits o!!! A lot of dates were uploaded this week and people are also rescheduling their visa appointments maybe because of the new visa rules.

Anyway, I just got found and secured July 31st date for 221g interview (next Thursday).

I’ve been checking for earlier dates since beginning of June, my interview was meant to be in September but we’re here now 🙏🏾.

Guys, you are so so funny,.... You are checking a wrong place for rescheduling. You need to click on the appointment page before you can see the rescheduling option.....lol
The first image is where you supposed check while the second image is where you are checking....

I was at the US emabssy today for my B1/B2 application for tourist purpose. I got the visa!!!!!!!!!! I do not know the validity yet untill i get my apssport back.
My tips, be confident, pray and do not speak too much when not asked it will look rehearsed. Please, dress properly, it matters a lot. dress how you want to be addressed.

Arrive early and be done with everything on time. ALL THE BEST!!!!!

Congratulations but your visa will be valid for only 3 months. No need to pray and fast over that. There is no exception to that rule for the average citizen applying for b1/b2

Update everyone!

There are Abuja dates available on AVITS now… from April 2026.

Hi everyone,
Is there anyone else trying to catch a drop‑off appointment slot in Abuja?
It’s very strange, but for me it always shows: “Currently, there are no appointments available for the selected location.”
For Lagos I see the whole August open.
What is going on with Abuja? Is the drop‑off center closed completely?

And I have another question. I am qualified as Interview Waiver, but I read here that many people are still sent for additional check and need an interview.
How does booking work in that case?
Do I have to catch a new slot and wait for months again, or do they give an interview date faster?

Keep checking, they will make them available at their convenience. That is how they always do

My mum's US appointment is on Aug 28th 2025, DS160 form was submitted in Jun 11th, 2024.
I can see her appointment details on the new portal but the statement below is worrisome as the DS-160 form was submitted over a year ago.
Grateful for any help from anyone in a similar situation on how to resolve.

"DS-160 confirmation page completed and submitted within the last 6 months. This should be the same DS-160 with which you
booked your appointment. If it is not, you must contact the AVITS support center to update the DS-160 prior to your
appointment."

I understand this situation as a confusing scenario, but let me break it down to brief.

■●▪︎ (100). IF your mum s DS-160 confirmation number is still reflecting in her present visa appointment letter then that is what the U.S. embassy want. She must however attend the visa interview with new current (2) Passport photos.

■●▪︎ DS-160 form after 6-Months of submittion starts losing update value because the U.S. embassy believes that human beings changes constantly, hence they prefer that your DS-160 & passport photo is most updated within 1 - 6 months. Ipso facto, your mum's 1 year DS-160 needs to be updated because many things like house address, looks, etc might have changed.

■●▪︎ IF your mum's current avits profile allows for update then I will recommend that she fill a new DS-160 , upload her current photo and update it via raising a ticket inside her profile.

■● If she is not in a place to fill another ds-160 and update it and everything is aligned together as described in number 100 above then she can attend her visa appointment like that.

Note. The country and post you choose in the beginning of your ds-160 ie " Nigeria - Abuja ", must be the location where you must attend your interview. 👍

You should worry less about the future of your application because no one can absolutely predicts the U.S. embassy routines. They may call you for physical appearance regardless of your IW qualification. Focus on getting a date first.

■● Fill DS-160 and be certain that the DS-160 location is in tandem with the location you are trying to drop your application.

■▪︎ You will be asked IW qualification questionnaire in the process of applying and your status will indicate in your appointment letter.

■▪︎ There is always IW appointment in Lagos and Abuja because IW applicants are not even near the half population of regular applicants. Be certain that you have done the needful. 👍

Thanks! I’ve done all that already. Still no Abuja slot. I’ll add a photo — Abuja looks strange.

Quite unfortunate you were denied. I think the VO was extremely generous with his time with you, as he wanted to issue you the visa, but you failed to convince him. Here's where in my opinion, the problem is.

1. You should have said your trip was two-fold; attend your cousin's graduation and use the opportunity to holiday in the US. Here's why:- The graduation is for one day, why would you need to stay in the US for two weeks? Moreso the person graduating is a COUSIN, not sibling, not child, not spouse.

2. Your travel history:- You have only listed Mozambique, so I'm guessing the other two are insignificant. Again, when they asked what you went to do there, your response was unimpressive. You should have simply told them you went on a holiday. As a lover of African culture and nature, you can enjoy these even in Nigeria. Saying you went on holiday would have been better.

3. The VO asking for the ownership status of your home was a strong indication they wanted to issue you the visa. They never ask this question. If you have landed properties, this was the perfect opportunity to let them know. "I live in a rented apartment, but I have properties in xyz".

Good luck next time.
damn u nail this thing

From what I have always known, yes, you can. Except that the process has now changed, what you need to do is to fill out a new DS-160 form to match your new appointment location. After that, you should update your barcode on your AVITS portal; a new barcode will be issued to you.

Experts here can weigh in, please.
