Although one cannot disagree with PO in his stance of returning to Edo State whenever the need arises, which is, of course, is his constitutionally guaranteed right, he must not behave like an agent provocateur.

Monday Okpebholo definitely did not present the matter in a refined and diplomatic way, however, insisting on visiting the State whenever he chooses is meant to provoke the Governor.

PO is not an ordinary Nigerian but a former presidential candidate and a current aspirant, although the platform under which he intends to run this time around remains unknown.

What the Governor is merely asking of him is to inform him in advance to enable him provide additional security during such visits.

Protocol demands that he informs any State Governor prior to his visits.

Is that too much to ask of him?

However, if he insists on having his way, Okpebholo should oblige him but must bear any unforseen mishaps that may befall him.

I no buy, I no sell!

U are talking about a governor whose first project for Edo state was mounting a billboard that clearly displayed '2027 is settled for Tinubu'😃😃

Even if Okpebolo wanted to show his appreciation for bulaba who 'assisted' him in being governor of Edo state, atleast do it with some sense and decorum instead of this inglorious, crass and shameless display of syc.opha.ncy!

Well what do you expect from a D7 governor?
No wonder he wasn't able to read the figures in his own budget 🤭🤭😄

U don't even know what it means to be a private citizen or you are just hearing it for the first time!
You and every eligible Nigerian is a private citizen and can go in and out of a state in Nigeria without restrictions!
Obi is also a private citizen!
He can enter any state of his choice without informing the state governor!
The only period he should inform the governor is when he is running for a political office and intends carrying out a campaign in that state!
Simple!

WorkTheTalk:
PO didn't stop El Rufai from visiting Anambra state. He only stopped him from moving around the state during election period. Get your facts right.
What you are even saying is not also true!

The claim that Peter Obi detained Nasir El-Rufai during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State stems from statements made by El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, in 2013.

El-Rufai alleged that during the Anambra governorship bye-election in November 2013, when he visited as an official of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to monitor the election, he was detained for 48 hours in his hotel room on the orders of Peter Obi, who was then the Governor of Anambra State.

However, Peter Obi has denied these allegations, stating that he did not order El-Rufai’s detention and that he himself was also detained in his local government area during the same election period. Obi argued that, as a governor under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), he lacked the authority to order detentions, as security operatives were controlled by the federal government, which was led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the time. He further noted that his aides, including his Aide-de-Camp (ADC) from Kano and the police commissioner from Adamawa, were from the northern region, making it unlikely for him to issue such an order.

A fact-checking investigation by PRNigeria concluded that El-Rufai’s claim was misleading. In a 2013 interview with TV360 Nigeria, El-Rufai stated that three State Security Service (SSS) officials, acting on "directives from Abuja," restricted his movement during the election. This suggests that the detention was ordered by federal authorities, not Obi, who, as a state governor, had limited control over federal security agencies like the SSS. Furthermore, El-Rufai sued the SSS over the incident and was awarded N2 million in damages by a federal high court in Awka in September 2014 for unlawful detention, with the court ordering the SSS to apologize.

There are inconsistencies in El-Rufai’s claims. In some statements, he alleged the detention lasted 48 hours, while in others, such as a 2018 tweet, he claimed it was in 2014 (not 2013) and that Obi justified it by saying El-Rufai had no business in Anambra as a northerner. El-Rufai also claimed to have video evidence of Obi admitting to ordering the detention, but no such video has been publicly verified.
On the other hand, posts on X and some media reports continue to reference El-Rufai’s allegations, often framing Obi’s actions as politically motivated or citing them to question his character. These posts, however, lack primary evidence and largely echo El-Rufai’s narrative without independent corroboration.
Given the available evidence, it is unlikely that Peter Obi directly ordered El-Rufai’s detention. The detention was more likely carried out by federal security operatives, as indicated by El-Rufai’s own 2013 interview and the subsequent court ruling against the SSS.
However, the lack of definitive evidence, such as the alleged video clip mentioned by El-Rufai, leaves room for ambiguity. The incident appears to have been part of the tense political climate during the 2013 Anambra election, where both federal and state actors were involved in various controversies.

In conclusion, while El-Rufai’s allegations have been widely circulated, Obi’s denial, the PRNigeria fact-check, and the court ruling against the SSS suggest that the claim of Obi personally ordering the detention is misleading and not substantiated by conclusive evidence.

Imagine being so loyal to failure that you're angry a man is donating to schools. This is the same Edo governor who can't tell the difference between ₦1.5 million and ₦15 million, fumbling figures from his own budget now claiming he can control who enters the state? Please. Peter Obi doesn’t need clearance from anybody to visit any part of Nigeria. Freedom of movement is his constitutional right. If simple acts of compassion shake your camp this much, then it’s time to admit your so-called new language is just tired, old nonsense wrapped in deep insecurity. Cry harder.

It’s evident that the recent wave of unsolicited donations, poorly executed boreholes, and exaggerated reactions to national issues are politically motivated. These are not initiatives he was known for in the past.

However, these efforts are ultimately futile. No level of social media branding or propaganda can erase the reality of his underwhelming tenure in Anambra State or his lack of a clear political ideology — constantly switching parties with no consistency. Once again, Obi is pursuing a lone and fruitless political path.
