Is this trend of fixing the “gold tooth” part of the Hajj requirements or just a show-off?

I believe this trend is common among Africans, especially Nigerians.

It’s so old. It’s not a new trend at all. Definitely show off.

You want people to adore and praise you

It is an old culture however it goes a long way to indicate some level of show off of having performed the obligatory act of worship of Hajj which solely is expected to be between servant and his creator.

That's how they will be open their teeth anyhow to show off -- any small smile, boom, the teeth is out😁😁

Actions are judged according to the intention with which they are carried out. Those who put on the "gold" to show off are definitely committing a serious error (riya).

A slave will always be a slave.

No matter the age, status or experience, he cannot be like the child.

Be a child and not a slave.

People go to Hajj and still don't change their ways ..I think Hajj should be allowed when people are elderly especially in Nigeria.

Total show off thing.

The thing is it must be removed when one dies before Burial because it is part of your wealth that must be inherited.

I know some who got it fixed while on Hajj but had it removed when Sapa paid him a visit. He sold it for an handsome sum.

Lol

It doesn't have to be Gold.

Visit a Dentist or a Dental Clinic and they will have it fixed for you. I mean the Frontal tooth gap.

Either show off or not so far it doesn't make me sin against Almighty God.

The same way I followed them to wear "I love NY" shirts only to later realize how I was showing off at the expense of my patriotism.

It's just for show off . And show offs is not encouraged in Islam. It is permissible for women to use gold jewelleries while men are not allowed in Islam.

It's Riyah, not necessary.
But it's not haram but distraction.
Will you add it to your properties incase of zakat calculation?
