I agreed on your assertion on the woman senator (Natasha Akpoti) i kindly suggest you can also comment on allegations raised by the Senate Leader (Bamidele) on the issues bordering the failing of the Senate President to hold a prior meetings that will unify their positions before bringing the individual matters to the floor.. Not a leader that brings his own ideology from home to the Senate and tried it' enforcement on the Senate member's. Can you kindly point out that trait of the Senate President if right or wrong pls??..

Your opinion though, you are entitled to it! But as far as decorum is concerned. He has handled it in a very civilised way.have you seen him talking about her, that’s how you handle attention seeking women, you just go about as if they don’t exist!

Akpabio days are duly numbered, he's too autocratic in nature and leadership style. He doesn't really consult with Senate committee chairmen.

A CALL FOR CLARITY AND CONSTITUTIONAL INTERPRETATION:
The Rivers State Case Before the Supreme Court

I am not a politician, and I have no intention of becoming one at this time - even though I studied Political Science and was actively involved in student politics, at some point, contested and won an election on campus, which led to my emergence as the Speaker of the Students' Union Government Parliament. My decision not to enter politics is not because I am a clergyman or that it is somehow sinful. No. Politics, in itself, is not a sin. As members of society, we are all inevitably affected by political decisions made through the mechanisms of governance, particularly within the framework of the Social Contract Theory.

However, my personal decision to avoid politics is based on the unfortunate reality of our present political climate - one that has been marred by partisanship, manipulation, and a troubling lack of accountability. That said, my interest in this matter stems not from partisan loyalty, but from a genuine concern for constitutional order and the future of democratic governance in Nigeria.

On March 18, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a six-month State of Emergency in Rivers State under Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution, suspending the elected Governor, Deputy Governor, and all Members of the State Assembly. He appointed Retired Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as the Sole Administrator.

In response, seven - and later eleven - PDP Governors filed a suit (SC/CV/329/2025) at the Supreme Court. They argue that the President lacks constitutional authority to suspend elected officials or dissolve state institutions via emergency rule - claiming this violates Sections 1(2), 5(2), 176, 180, 188, 192, and 305.

They’re asking the apex court among others to:
1. Nullify the emergency declaration and the suspension of democratic institutions.
2. Prohibit future abuse of such power.
3. Void the appointment of a sole administrator.

Since then, many of us are left wondering: Why has the Supreme Court not delivered judgment on this matter?

What is delaying the hearing and determination of the case? Is there an intentional stalling of justice to allow the situation to be overtaken by events and, thereby, justify an eventual ruling that favours the presidency?

Let me be clear: this is not about Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former Governor Nyesom Wike, or President Bola Tinubu. Frankly, I am not concerned with their individual political ambitions or internal rivalries. Most of our contemporary politicians, regardless of how they try to rebrand themselves or appeal to the public, have historically not demonstrated genuine care for the welfare of the masses.

My concern lies with the integrity of our constitutional democracy and the rule of law. We are a federal republic, and in a federal system, governmental powers are constitutionally divided between the national and subnational governments. The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) makes provision for the autonomy of democratically elected officials at both the state and national levels.

Thus, can a sitting President, unilaterally and without due process, suspend a democratically elected governor or dissolve institutions created by the Constitution? If so, where does the Constitution permit such action? If not, what is the constitutional remedy? These are the questions that demand urgent and authoritative interpretation from the Supreme Court.

If this issue remains unresolved, it may set a dangerous precedent that future Presidents could exploit. It opens a constitutional vacuum that could lead to executive tyranny - a scenario where elected state officials may be suspended at will by federal authorities under vague claims of "Emergency Rule."

Therefore, we respectfully call on the Supreme Court of Nigeria to give this case the attention it urgently deserves. We also appeal to constitutional lawyers, civil society organizations, and all defenders of democracy and justice to speak up and demand clarity and accountability.

Let this not be swept under the carpet. For the sake of constitutional governance and the preservation of democratic norms, we ask:

Why has this case not been given a speedy hearing?

This is not a matter of party politics, but a call for justice, legality, and constitutional fidelity. The future of our democracy may very well depend on how this moment is handled.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Senator Akpabio should show that he's a man and suspend Senator Bamidele for six months for insubordination and rebellion.
Anything else will display his double standard treatment of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

DeLaRue:
I can only guess that the Senate majority leader has raised his discontent with Mr Akpabio privately several times.

How can you lead a Senate and not consult with your co-leaders on important administrative issues.

And then when the man voices out his frustration you tell him to sit down huh Poor temperament.

You have been a legislator and 2 time Governor. What is the relevance of that to you not consulting with other officers.
Senator Akpabio outburst and reference of bring two term Governor shows how arrogant and petty he is.

Sometime ago one Abino rep was seen on camera threatening Uber driver that he will make him disappear and nothing will happen..

That Opeyemi Bamidele is another arrogant fellow too, I don't know whether this is a Nigerian attributes or just an isolated cases.

We need leaders with compassion, humility and modest in character...

Nonsense people, what's 2-Months traditional break; a break in which they expect to get paid. Every worker (they're working for us) gets between 22-25 working days annual leave but the legislooters get almost 4 months of the year off as one form of leave, recess or whatever name they disguise it as.
Our legislative arm of government needs to be part time and not this burdensome full time drain on resources........they barely work half of the year but they get paid for the whole year including humongous allowances not forgetting constituency project fraud 🤥🤥🤥

OMOYELE SOWORE & his gutter news portal SAHARA REPORTERS can never end well. Their end can never be good, considering how much lies they cook up about people and how much they carry out actual blackmail many times.

This report is so laughably false that Sowore should be ashamed of himself. He is a disgrace to the practice of journalism.

Akpabio and tyrany is like 5&6. Just imagine the way he handles his case with Natasha who is also an elected Senator like him. While his evil supporters are cheering him on, many of his colleagues aren't happy about his actions in the senate.
