Students of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), were left in shock after the sudden collapse of Pentagon Lodge in Izamgbo, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

Just hours ago, a now-viral video captured a student standing outside, helplessly watching the building about to collapse. He could be heard lamenting, “My lodge is about to collapse and my television is still inside!” 😳💔

At the time of filing this report, no injuries or loss of life have been reported.

The incident has raised serious concerns over the safety of student accommodations.

This might be as a result of inferior or substandard building materials and poor supervision .

Rather than thanking God for ur life, and hoping no one is caught up in the rubble ur only concerned about ur television. Shouting my tv oo. Rubvsh.

As it collapse so, some students will still be living inside d ruins.

Wow, that was a massive structure. They need to ascertain what caused this, especially to make sure it's not soil related so it doesn't affect other surrounding buildings

What if it happened at night when the students were sleeping. And this is a Federal institution, The Government is only busy in renaming institutions and not in the structural integrity of their infrastructures .

This is scary. The contractor should be arrested and investigated immediately.

Indeed, television can be replaced, life can't. Lost body part can't be replaced too

Private lodge, not a government owned lodge or building.

Many federal universites own hostels that are still standing to this day. Some for over 40 years , even 50 years self.

Thank God for the students that it wasn't in the night. To God be the glory. Imagine this happened in Lagos state, only God knows how they would have ascribed it to the handiwork of PBAT now with all vituperations
