Tinubu Unlocking Prosperity Of S’East With $3bn Allocation For Eastern Rail Line–Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for allocating $3 billion for the completion of the Eastern Rail line, describing it as vital to South East development. According to Kalu, the project which is a component of the external loans approved by the National Assembly, is a vital component of the government’s efforts to drive economic development, regional connectivity, and improve the lives of people from the South East and Nigeria generally. While commending the President, the Deputy Speaker in a statement on Thursday, he disclosed that the rail line is projected to unlock about ₦50 billion in annual trade, linking Aba and Onitsha hubs to the markets in the northern region. According to him, the President has, through this gesture, underscored the action-oriented nature of his Renewed Hope Agenda, demonstrating a clear commitment to unlocking the economic potential of the South East. Kalu assured the President that Ndi Igbo will reciprocate his goodwill at the appropriate time to reflect the region’s deep appreciation for his efforts to foster growth and prosperity in the South East. “I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership and commitment to the development of the South East region. He has again demonstrated his love for the people of the South East region by this bold step of completing the Eastern rail line which is expected to boost Nigeria’s non-oil exports and economic growth once completed”, he said. “We can’t but show our immense gratitude to the President for this initiative to upscale the infrastructure in the South East. Indeed, the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President is not in words but in action especially for Ndigbo and at the right time, we will reciprocate this kind gestures. We are so grateful, Mr. President”, he added.

Oh wow, so it’s now Tinubu suddenly remembered the South-East exists? Morning don break, oga president! After building express roads to the North and oiling the South-West with projects, now you're tossing us a $3 billion rail as if it’s Christmas gift — and we’re supposed to clap like grateful orphans? Please! If you like, build am. If you no like, leave am. Igbo land no dey beg anybody. We've always built ourselves, carried our weight, even when Nigeria shut us out. You no dey do us any favour — na our own share, and it's long overdue. So save the PR stunts for gullible minds. We move with or without your ‘renewed hope.’ Igbo amaka — we’ve been making things happen before una ‘allocation epiphany.’ Dirty politics won’t wash us. Keep it!

Cho cho co speaker, wait till you see the project before running your mouth. They have finished building the western rail line without much ado. Kano, Ogun, Lagos and Kaduna were given hundreds of billions of naira each for their internal rail lines without fanfare. Now, this stipend and the whole media houses and some bemused political contractors have gone into overdrive with their petty propaganda.. |

Ibos won't appreciate this little gift from the president. The governors in your region never dream about railway construction. |

youngsahito:I have said it here before and I will keep saying it that Igbo leaders are the worst set in Nigeria (with exception of a few). The Igbos should pray for Yorubas to start governing them so they can witness progress, it's far better than trooping in droves to live in Yorubaland under Yoruba leadership. Oyo State alone is equivalent in size to the 5 South East States combined, yet Oyo with just 1 Governor is developing faster than the entire SE with 5 Governors and several National Assembly members. I don't know why some Yorubas like to shy away from this truth, but we all know South West is being shortchanged terribly to favour South East and others. |
