Nigeria’s Fastest Growing Sectors In Q1 2025 by NaijaphiliaBlog(op): 11:11pm On Jul 25, 2025
Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has released the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data for the 1st quarter of year 2025.

The figures indicate that the economy is witnessing strong growth in some sectors, in spite of the overall economic headwinds.

The table below lists the top 10 fastest growing sectors of the Nigerian economy in Q1-2025.

Economy has tanked wailers, they cannot like this type of news. Na growth we go chop?
You don't know the serious thing God has done for you if you're not into politics or anti-Tinubu.

Insecurity -60%

Hunger -40.5%

Corruption -65%

Agriculture 12%

NBS should not neglect the critical sector mentioned above.

Good and nice.

This government has a lot to campaign for reelection

Number 7, 8 and 9 has been growing exponentially in the past 10 years. If only we (stakeholders, investors and government) could focus more on MSMEs, support and encourage players in this sectors to do more, the level of economic growth the nation would record will be surprising.

Good to know that nollywood did not feel the impact of Netflix and Amazon prime divestment as predicted.

All the "highest grossing movie" news has been mere noise.

These statisticians think we are all dumb. What did you benchmark on to get your growth rate? Or are they saying those sectors were at 0%?

Bolded is correct. Being anti-anyone or anything puts you at a disadvantage because it robs you of the ability to look at things objectively. That makes you intellectually blind, even if you don't realise it. Unfortunately, being pro-anyone also has the same effect.

That said, I notice that agriculture is not among the growth sectors. Which makes perfect sense to those of us who're close to the sector. The government is still taking weak and tokenistic measures and pretending agric is fine without addressing any of the real problems of that sector. I hope they wake up.

Yet, the Federal government removed subsidy to reduce borrowing, and now borrows to reduce the effects of subsidy removal.

Forget politics. God sent Tinubu to safe Nigeria despite all his flaws. If Tinubu can't reform Nigeria to the part of glory no one else can do it. The reason for the present hardship is because surgery is more painful and costly than bandaging.

I agree his economic policies will benefit the country in the long run. Whether we'll be able to take advantage of the benefits and whether the mass impoverishment currently going on will be a good price to pay are different matters. I personally think he could have managed subsidy removal far better.

Also, he's not done so well on security so far. If he doesn't shape up, that'll make nonsense of anything he achieves on the economy. It's also what he'll be judged by.

They borrowed. Massively too. I think Nigerians just expected that with subsidy removal, they'd borrow less. But reverse is the case, and they're now borrowing the country into every Guinness record.

Na dem,dem- as if they are the only one in Nigeria!
Why don't you acknowledge that the above is true first, that these Economic Figures can Still be Improved upon but that Govt -should try to see how to reduce the hunger you mentioned, after all, Your Governors , even in your State-Are Seating on Humongous NBILLIONS Money in their States - and what are they doing in bringing in INVESTORS and Employing the Jobless Youths?
Rather, your Choice to Complain First -is allowed in the Constitution and should not be the first thing,as is Common with you guys.
But Emiefiele, your Former CBN governor - wasted Nigerian Resources in NTrillions and Multiple NBillions, yet you people were Supporting him.
Don't you know the Repercussions On the Economy IN THE LONG RUN?
• That Is Why We Are here like this- Money 🤑 Have Been WASTED Through Corruption,as Govt-Cannot Just Be Printing it anyhow!
We MUST NOW EMBARK ON PRODUCTIVE ECONOMY:
• PRESIDENT TINUBU - SHOULD MAKES LIGHT 🚨 TO FUNCTION 24/7.
• ONCE THERE IS REGULAR AND CONSTANT LIGHT LIGHT 🕯️ 🚨 - INCLUDING IN OUR VILLAGES AND TOWNS - QUICK INDUSTRIALIZATION WILL BE SPRINGING UP - IN NIGERIA.
*For You Cannot Use Generators To Drive Industrialization anywhere in the World 🌎 - let All NIGERIANS Know This!
• ENSURE INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN ALL REGIONS.

There is total crisis in the Agric sector
It is an eyesore, a disaster. There is frightening level of food insecurity never witnessed before since 1960

And food production is on a decline.... After making all this money from pipeline, telecommunication etc... Go and buy food, u will hear 1 mudu 5k...

The government should work on the Agriculture sector. We can't survive without food... Yesterday, some herdsmen brought cattle very close to my rice.... If no be God now, wahala done come.
