During my childhood, where I grew up, there were Igbos, Hausas, Yorubas, Niger Deltans, and also foreigners from other countries around the world, and we all lived together peacefully. We never care where one comes from. But lived as brothers/sisters in the neighborhood, and it was so amazing. Not long after, politicians started dividing us by state creation, tribe identity, and religion, bodies fighting to make other people believe their God and gods are superior to other people's faith. That was when humanity in this part of the world started declining, a step towards division alongside hate among the people. Humans started fighting for their God and gods. Politicians started looting the public funds, and the economy started going down, resulting in massive poverty. Basic survival becomes a thing of struggle, and the few opportunities available become a survival of the fittest. These were when a lot started happening... People are posh as society starts upholding evil more than Good. Today, in that same environment called Nigeria, where I come from, insecurity is eating us up more than anyone else, while religious bodies blame it on our fellow humans. A lot has changed, all you need to do is to stop focusing on the past stress, and stay calm, planning for now and your better future, which is possible. Success is possible, no matter how the choose to run Nigeria. Go for success irrespective of where you come from, love and let love leads in all you do.

The real polarization of this country happened under Buhari and continued ever since. Maybe I should say under APC |

Same with me, we saw one or two people trying to be tribalists when I grew up and laughed at them before ostracising then if they refused to change. Sadly Obidients are the game changers that have turned tribalism into an art form to be proud of. A shame really. |

pointblank247:Bola Tinubu started it around 2013/2014 when Goodluck Jonathan failed to hand over Minister of Petroleum to Tinubu's choice, Wale of Oando. Immediately, Tinubu rolled out his tribal war drums against Goodluck, and started mobilizing Yorubas against Goodluck by telling them that Goodluck was appointing only Igbos leaving Yorubas that fought for his emergence after the death of Yaradua. Unfortunately, his people never bothered to check the list of key appointees under Goodluck to check their names and state of origin to know if Bola was telling them the truth or not, immediately they followed Bola, used Sowore's SaharaReporters to dish out all manner of propaganda news against Goodluck's regime. It became worst during the 2015 Presidential election and continued thereafter when Oba of Lagos, Oba Akiolu threatened to throw Ndigbo into the Lagos Lagoon if they don't vote for APC candidates from federal to state. Next they dug up the old mantra of "Lagos is a no man's land" which a former Lagos state Governor Jakande initiated as way of letting none Lagosians know that Lagos is a welcoming city that welcomes all people without prejudice, which Igbos always used too casually to promote Lagos' open doors to all Nigerians and foreigners. Suddenly the mantra of "Lagos is a no man's land" that have been fondly in use for decades was brought back to limelight by Lagos APC to mobilize Yorubas against major opposition party LP which they believed and saw as an Igbo party in 2023. Yorubas didn't bother to also ask certain questions. If Lagos was truly a no man's land, how come we don't have Igbo people as Oba, Baales, etc. How come every Igbo person that buy land in Lagos still pay Omo onile fee to Yoruba indigenes without resisting it with the claim that Lagos belongs to no tribe? They just danced to the dangerous dance of Tinubu's Lagos APC and today, look at what they are turning Lagos and Nigeria into all because of politics So be brave and say the truth as it is. It is Bola Tinubu and Buhari that polarized Nigeria along ethnic lines since APC came to limelight |

During Tinubu govt in 1999 he appointed Igbo commissioners with the hope to buy off Igbo votes in Lagos which was massive Unfortunately, igbos follow their heart and are individualistic people who won't support you because you appointed just one of two of their own. This angered Tinubu and his allies then and that brought the propaganda against the east. Coupled with many other happenings. Buharis also lost in the east and a dot in the circle talk. Since APC came to power, it has been so. Division among the ethnic line only in Abuja ooo, some states and online but not on the street. The Fulanis are also seen as evil people but we all have been living peacefully in this country since after the war. We should stop playing politics with the unity of the country and it's development. |
