Final phase of the Ibadan project (200days ) full construction work

Good afternoon, what comes first is is internal wall screeding, external door installation is next for security of materials in the site, sub frame for the HDF door, tiling and installation of frames & HDF door.

So what do you suggest?

If the dampness occurs at all sections of the building, it’s most likely “raising dampness” aka capillary water movement. There is no easy quick fix. In fact the solution will cost as much as renovating the whole house. I have seen it done, mostly bungalow.
1) cut open the walls around the house at the floor level about one block height
2) Do not break the existing floor
3) pour concrete on the existing flooring.
4) lay DPM all over
5 ) pour another concrete . Then tiles.
However you are likely to face two problems
1) The water will start raising at the doors frames area, that is if you did not remove the doors.
2) Your head room will be shortened, if you did not remove the roof and increased the lintel level.

So you see, it’s not an easy fix. But it can be done. I have seen people do it.
If you have ever lived around itire/Ijesha in Surulere Lagos, this will not be new to you.

Your neighbor at that side of the fence might start complaining if you bother him with noise, heat and smoke .
Then they will involve the environmental and health agency.
These agencies are also likely to come on their own. It might not be your neighbors telling on you.
Then they will ask you to bring you permit that shows your house is commercial and not residential
Then they will also show you evidence of environmental impact from your activities.
Next, they might either seal or extort you on an ongoing basis.

Solution;
Proceed with caution
Be friendly with your neighbors
If neighbors complain to you, listen and don’t wave them off. Proffer solution like using gas instead of charcoal or firewood.
Don’t put up any permanent structure for now. You can get a carpenter to do a small wood cabin for storage.
Are you planning to send your waste water to public gutter or septic tank within the compound? That would be another issue with neighbors.

I would recommend total tools. A bit pricey but very durable. I have been using them at my workshop for years
