There is a famous quote by Winchston Churchill (ex Biitish prime minister) where he infamously said

''When you're 20 you care what everyone thinks, when you're 40 you stop caring what everyone thinks, when you're 60 you realize no one was ever thinking about you in the first place.”

The ability to not care about what people think comes with maturity, a consequence of growing up. It is easier for older people to not give a shit, because alot have happened in their life, that some gossip or even hate doesnt make them loose sleep.

If you have been through a lot, pulled yourself from the dark, being in situations where you have to show what you are made up, and see the dirty side of people, you will get to a point where you wont worry at all.

Most importantly, the key to stand tall in the face of an army of critics is to do well for yourself. When you are successful, you will realise that gossip is a low energy vibration, and you will naturally look down on gossipers.

I used to be like the op. Always wanting people to like me. Always bothered about what people say about me until I realised I missed out on a lot of things in life by doing that. That created a 360 degrees change in me. For the past few years I don't give a fvck what anyone thinks or says about me.

2. You need to set clear vision
3. Live your life according to your goals and God's purpose for your life.

I observe someone i Know always worried about what people say, and it could be making the person ill.

It can also influence their decisions and attitude hopefully not negatively. People are noise makers if you want to listen to them, I am sorry.

Relocate to a new place..

My dear, it takes maturity of the mindset to attain to attain this feat. You'll stop caring about people's opinion in your life when you realised that no one pays your bills, no one gives a 'fk' about you, when you realised that you can't please people, whether you stress yourself for their sake or not, they don't care. When you realised that people you surround yourself with are out to drain your pockets from constant demands and collecting without contributing anything positive in your life, when you have serious issues/ cases and those peeps turn their backs on you, always bringing you down and saying trash about you, then you'll learn the hard way, that you're on your own [OYO]. I learnt from my dad's experience, when I realised that even when he displeased himself and us his family, in order to please his friends and kinsmen, they still doesn't appreciate his efforts but instead talks trash about him and still responsible for his untimely death, then did I taught myself this hard life's lesson, of self love and to put myself first in most of my life's decisions and nothing or anyone's opinion can change that cos I DON'T CARE ANY MORE, because I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I owe nobody any explanation for my decisions and the choices I make, that's my motto.

OP, you might likely have a mental health condition classified as AVPD (Avoidant Personality Disorder) or SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder). It is not normal to extensively care about what others think about you, maybe for a while it should bother you but if this persists then you might have to see a psychotherapist. Are you able to work with people? Or do you rather shy away from social functions even those that are important to you? Then it should be taken seriously else you would just be wasting your life away. One bad thing about either of these conditions is that the patient hardly thinks that something is wrong with them but since you can already identify this as a problem then there is still hope for you

This is how I stopped. I look at my hand and check if any hair fell out. If it didn't fall then I don't let it bother me.. even tiwa way get sex tape is still thriving. Wetin come be my own with wetin kan cosign with wetin people talk. They will talk and shut up

Go read the books, 48 laws of power and the acts of not giving a Bleep

I suggest you read this book "the subtle art of not giving a fvck" by mark Manson.

Read, digest and apply it. I know is not that easy but be consistent.. with time, you will be used to focusing only on what matters and disregard garbages that will not contribute to your growth.
