BabaO2:It was renamed club street because of the high number of clubs in the street which even makes sense it wasn't given any igbo name. |

moscow007:Nigeria will survive beyond 2200. Not even an Ibo president would want Nigeria to split during his reign. People will continue to hope and pray that Nigeria returns to being united but that's never going to happen. It's not anybody's fault. It's something natural. The population is constantly increasing. Completion for resources get stiffer. Politics becomes more complicated. Every four years, people come up with different dimensions of ethnic and religious manipulations to sway support and win elections. It's going to get worse in the coming years and we must all brace ourselves to live with it if we are still alive! |

These people are very funny; you said Lagos is no man's land because the owners gave you free rein to operate as you like, but now that the owners have woken up, you are complaining. Na una mouth , eeeeeh |

Stolen:Even though I have never voted in Nigeria but I will moblize more people to vote for APC for just singular name change of that Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos. How can we have a bus stop named after a hater of Lagos. You cannot continue to hate Lagos and expect streets and bus stop named after you. |

MightySparrow:I don't know if you're Igbo or not, but this is great summation. My people would never listen and learn. However, the tribal hatred is going to affect so many Igbo/Yoruba mixed children in the next decade. Also, Lagos born and bred Igbos, including those who speak Yoruba, would experience issues. But hey, that's oNe nIgErIa for everyone. |

Mrexcell:same way charlyboy and his famous bike are no longer there, the only relevant thing is to name the place after an illustrious son whose presence is daily felt by the community. |

Maybe, just maybe the LG chairman thinks you might decide to go show your nudity at the bus stop daily, feeling you had the right to do that since it was named after you. As in, he probably didn't trust your sanity. |

LAGOS HONOURS NOT FOR EJECTED TENNANTS Charlie boy was never officially allocated any Busstop in Gbagada, Lagos. Though people fondly called the place Charlie Boy probably because of the imposing bike he mounted in front a rented apartment where he lived back then before leaving in quarrelsome circumstances. The local government would have been smarter by just officially naming the place Olamide Baado Busstop. Not renaming it from Charlie Boy to the new name. How can a Busstop be named after an ejected tenant who severally defied court orders to quit before being forcefully ejected. Or can we ideally honour a 70-year plus man who refused to grow into his 30s at least, in conducts and appearance? Hell no! At any rate, whether naming or renaming, the pronouncement had been made and it is therefore official with the full backing of the law. If you continue to call the place Charlie Boy, it is personal to you as it makes no difference as far as the law and official records are concerned. The popular road known as Kudirat Abiola today, was Oregun road for decades. So getting used to Olamide Baado too is just a question of time. |

43Ronin:Oh! This is true as well. Gbawe, a known Nairalander spread propaganda that Osun state was the best thing since sliced bread under Aregbe only for everyone to see the financial ruins he left the state in. It was until my service years I realised there were bad roads in the country. Ogun had and still has absolutely terrible road infrastructure! The worst I've seen in my life! As for your first line, the average Nigerian believes in tribal demonism even if they are suffering. So, it's perfectly normal to think that way. My own is that Igbos should learn and stop being stubborn. When one see tribal wickedness, one has to change with the times. |

wirinet:You made great points in your critique of capitalism that even myself (a strong pro-capitalism) finds very wonderful.. However, regarding the bold, it only happens in largely homogeneous countries. Homogenity based on: - racial/ethnic homogenity - linguistics homogenity - religious homogenity Nigeria is too ethnically and religiously fractured to have socialism. It just wouldn't work. It can work in Namibia or Botswana, but not Nigeria. |
