The bus stop was NEVER named Charly Boy by the government I will give a stronger example There is nothing like geopolitical zone in the Nigerian constitution or any law,it is just something that political parties introduced for themselves and over time many people assume it has some kind of legal or official status Just like the word Naija Bus stops in Lagos generally are not official names ? They are not gazetted anywhere and are usually introduced by NURTW without official records If the name was never official and the government decides to set the records straight that is their prerogative Many street names are often put there because the first person to build there erected a sign. If this is done without a gazette it is void Similarly some streets are called by a particular name but have a different name on the records for whatever reason When the time comes that may be changed without notice |

Please I want to ask, which Igbos are fighting with Yorubas to warrant all these unnecessary polarization of Nigeria and Lagos in particular? Well meaning Yorubas should please speak up so that the rascals voice don't end up becoming the voice of all Yorubas. This is absurdity in its highest form. You guys are just fighting yourself because no Igbo man is dragging Lagos with Yorubas. You claim Igbos said Lagos is a no man's land but I cannot remember any Igbo being an Oba or Baale or Omonile in Lagos. Posterity will beckon, let's remember that Yorubas on their own decided to start this unnecessary ethnic rivalry for no justifiable reason. It becomes sad that a Yoruba man is the President and instead of Yorubas to be drumming for unity and peace, they rather see Tinubu's Presidency as an opportunity to wage unnecessary ethnic wars and to subdue everybody as if we are in the 1900s, it's really shameful, I repeat, well meaning Yorubas like Falana and Sowore have done should speak up against this political madness happening in Lagos under APC/Tinubu. |

Slytiger:It's possible "Dem plenty die" but who're these people? Is there any notable individual who ever said "Lagos is a no man's Land"?I can bet you my last dime that nobody can ever point at a recognisable Igbo making such statements!Never!! But I believe one or two faceless mischief makers on social media or on the streets of Lagos may have made statements sounding like that.In any case that's not even how they meant it; they meant to state that Lagos being the Federal Capital Territory in the past has become the cosmopolitan city for all Nigerians. But since the desperate APCists are bent on do-or-die politics in order to keep ruling Lagos by all means, they twisted, distorted and latched onto this disinformation to manipulate and divide voters along ethnic and rigious lines. If not, point out which recognisable Igbo said that. |

Slytiger:There are CLEARLY 3 Yoruba names out of the 8 old street names that were renamed in that your attached screenshot, and 3 names of Ibo origin. It's highly IRRESPONSIBLE that some bigots are trying to generate propaganda out of this by giving the impression that all the names changed in Ajeromi-Ifelodun LCDA are Ibo names. Daddy Showkey's name is among the newly renamed streets and he's of the Isoko ethnic group from Delta State. It was formerly known as George Street, now Daddy Showkey Street. There are far more important things to do with time BUT these misguided younger ones and a few of there elders from the South East of Nigeria deliberately fabricate disinformation to manipulate their people to hate others for political gains. Just last year in 2024, a gang of kidnappers kidnapped for ransom a Yoruba man who is an investor in agribusiness right in Ijebu Igbo and later killed him and buried him in a shallow grave. The Police investigators later arrested them all up to 7 of them and the videos are still on the Channels Television YouTube channel alongside publications in the print media online. Those who carried out the kidnappings were all Ibos. This is the same thing they have been doing in Yorubaland (Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans and his gang of armed robbers and kidnappers from Anambra) and other gangs for years now which they have exported to Ghana as well which has triggered the anger and massive protests from Ghanaians just yesterday based on the arrests made by the Ghana Police due to the massive crimes they commit for over 15 years now alongside the impostor illegally claiming to be an Eze Ibo of Ghana when he is NOT from a royal family in his village. =>https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/07/police-arrest-kidnappers-uncover-shallow-graves-of-victims-in-ogun/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFSmpnkMILw?si=Q-LLMjpaYIzAaflM Channels Television • 15 Jul 2024 Instead of being sober over these crimes commited by their kinsmen especially from Anambra State based on crime statistics from the NIA and more in Nigeria, Ghana and several countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Thailand, India, Ethiopia, Seychelles, Brazil, Singapore, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sierra Leone, etc, while tarnishing the image of other innocent Nigerians from the over 300 different ethnic groups, some of the South Easterners are busy manipulating people's emotions and puffing over some inconsequential renaming of street names and landmarks in Lagos State due to bigotry and low self-esteem issues. |

DmonSlayer10:It was actually said in the national assembly by one prominent Igbo politician and he rightly did.. Then the yorubas advocated for a special funds to be allocated to Lagos alone as a special city of economic influence in Nigeria.. It was highly debated.. among the debate , this politician stoop up to agree, but on one condition... .that Lagos won't get double allocation 1. As a south western state 2. Since the entire resources of the nation will be specifically sent to Lagos for special development not them place.. To then everyone who lives there will have access. To the resources sent to the land.. in terms of leadership, jobs, govt grant etc... And in doing so it should be declared a "a no Man's land" otherwise, he rejects the idea and lacks should be owned and managed by Yoruba tribe with no special resources allocation |

Please fact-check me: In 2018, Anambra changed the names of several streets to reflect their local heritage. One such street was Abakaliki Street, which was renamed Club Street. The renaming of that street caused much disaffection within the Ebonyi State Government. The Ebonyi State House of Assembly passed a resolution against the action by the Anambra State Government, while the then Governor of Ebonyi State, now the Minister of Works, protested the renaming. But guess what? Not a single one of the prominent public individuals now protesting the renaming of streets and bus stops in Lagos lent their voices in support of the people of Ebonyi when the Anambra State Government took that action. Peter Obi was silent. Celebrities did not condemn the action. Social activists did not agitate, and pro democracy activists did not give their pros and cons. So, the glaring question is this: Why is Anambra State allowed to rename streets and bus stops to names that reflect their cultural and political heritage, but Lagos cannot? Why are the Lagos State Government and its Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas being pilloried and labelled by those who were loudly quiet when Anambra State took the same action seven years ago? I thought that what was sauce for Greece, is also sauce for Uganda? Please fact-check me: In 2017, the then Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, renamed a street after then President Muhammadu Buhari, and the act almost set off a riot. The indigenes refused to accept the renaming of a local street after a non-indigene. Things got to a head, and the next day, the Imo State Government was forced to deny the renaming of the street after Buhari to prevent a breakdown of law and order. Why is there an outcry when Lagos does it, but none when Anambra does the same? Why are the people of Imo allowed to be outraged when a local street is named after a non-indigene, but Lagos is intolerant and bigoted when they take steps to preserve their culture and traditions? Again, please fact-check me: Peter Obi, as Anambra Governor, threatened to deport homeless Nigerians not of Anambra origin from his state. Can you imagine that! Did any of these people now attacking Lagos ever condemn that action by Obi? The answer is a capital no! I have repeatedly said that Nigerians have short memories, and that is why it is easy to gaslight our people. If Nigerians were less emotional and more sentient, given to facts, many of the issues that we agitate over would not even arise. Reno Omokri Gospeller. Deep Thinker. #TableShaker.
