If we are going for a striker to replace Lewandowski next season a CB likely LCB would be signed too to replace Inigo

I thought he looked eager to get stuck in. Drifting wide to try to take on defenders 1v1 and also coming in to demand for the ball.

He also got deep to help in defence. It was from one his deep well weighted through ball to Lewandowski that earned Barcelona’s 2nd goal.

An energetic 30 minutes cameo for him.

Signing a new CB solves nothing if you're paying attention.

I'm a follower of Laliga especially Barca and Madrid like I watch both teams. From my observations on Barca, the defence is not a personnel problem but tactical. You can put prime Pique and Puyol and still concede bucket loads. The main issue is tactics and who's incharge of protecting the back 4.

Flick's set up is to score goals(outscore), look at the average position of Balde in possession, look at Kounde too. And there's no DM there. Dejong will never be a DM but a CM. Compare the amount of goals conceded with Casado playing DM Vs when Dejong is the one protecting the back four.

Another thing to note is that the best centre back at Barca was also not available last season. Aside Rudiger(some seasons behind) there's no defender better than our Chelsea hero aka Danish Madini in Laliga. He's fast, great passer, great in the air, can anticipate. There's nothing he can't do. How many goals did Barca concede with him on the pitch when Xavi won the league. Watch the last game Vs Espanol last season. If he wasn't on the pitch, Barca would've conceded. He made 2 very vital blocks. If he was the one marking Acerbi, nah UCL final straight. He looks soft in the face but tough as nail.

Pair him with Curbasi, an actual DM and tell Flick to reduce the line a bit just like Maresca did for us or something like that of Enrique(PSG) and you'll not concede like water again. Balde, Christensen, Curbasi and Kounde is the best defence you can put out there for Barca.

If you like sign prime Vandirjk and pair him with Puyol with current tactics, you'll still concede like water but you'll sure outscore.
