People that depend on "miracles" and lucks seldom go far in life. Great nations and institutions are not built by luck, but by deliberate and consistent excellent acts and the resulting good results. Our girls have worked hard and got a win. They deserved to be celebrated...but having to consistently expect a miracle is no hardwork. Brazilians of old, for example , didn't win games by luck, but by hardwork and excellence.
Everything is luck

Saudi89 Nigerian had a great comeback from 4goals down against the USSR, Oleg Salenko played that game for the USSR. 6years later he was the highest goal scorer in US94 world cup where they destroyed Roger Miller's Cameroun side by 6:1. Mutiu adepoju was really young then.

Atlanta 96 was the greatest victory Nigeria ever had in terms of football at any level. Brazil were world cup defending champions with world cup players like BeBeto, Aldair, and Ronald Lima, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos and juninho paulister was also there but Nigeria came down from 3:1 down to beat Brazil 4:1, the whole Nigeria erupted with celebration, never has Nigeria seen a celebration like before till date. BeBeto cried after the match and a 2days public holiday was declared in Ghana.
I got teary eyed after reading this.
This story reminded me of that fateful night men.... That was the only day my popsy don ever hug me.... Chai... So Ghana even declared 2 days public holiday because of that? Omo, mo fo o!

Where did the op imply we should "consistently expect a miracle"?

In football, professional footballers know that hardwork coupled with some element of luck is what is needed to win a game of football. Of course you won't win if you depend only luck. The same also applies if you depend only on hardwork because what will happen in a game of football isn't easily predictable.

A balance of the two, hardwork and the expectations that things go in ones favour, luck, is what's required to succeed in football and in other areas of life

Why is everyone finding it unbelievable that our girls won? Obviously many had lost confidence in them for obvious reasons. Many were supporting them simply because they are our own not because they have been excellent. We thank God for the last minute scramble to salvage a bad situation though.

Nigeria is capable of doing anything and succeeding, except in politics and leadership. If we get the last one correct, Nigeria will be unstoppable in this world of humanity. It's only the young generation that can bring about the most needed change.
Our past leaders destroyed this beautiful country due to ego and religio-tribal innuendos. Very heartbroken!
We will conquered that too, the never give up Nigerian spirit.

You're exaggerating .Everyone isn't "finding it unbelievable that our girls won?. Pre match analysis by experts on DSTV and other foreign sports channel projected our girls as winners over the Moroccans.

And many Nigerians were not supporting them because they're "our own but because they have been the better team ,even though not excellent before the final match of the competition. No team is excellent or perfect in football.

Before Saturday, the super falcons had scored 11 goals and conceded only once to South Africa through a spot kick. The same cannot be said of the Moroccans who had a leaky defence though out the group stage and the knock out series.

On Saturday, after we were two goals down,I had the believe our girls would turn it around from what I saw them playing. I was certain that if they managed to score the next goal in the match before 70 min they would equalize later and win . And that was what happened.

Stats from the match confirmed our girls were the superior team from the beginning to the end . We dominated possession , 59.61%- 41. 6%, . The falcons completed 166 passes, with 74.6%accuracy as against the Moroccans who completed 133 passes with 72.2 %. We also had the most corners .

So, what match did you watch to conclude the falcons didn't performed very well in the competition?
Your criticism is unjustified , not supported by facts. It's all emotions.

Lucks and miracles are part of the game. If u remove them, you can have great possession but still cry after 90+

2 days public holiday in Ghana? That was wen Africa and Africans had great bond and love for one another.

This reminds one of the "Damman miracle" fame of the then Golden Eagles during the U-21 World Cup in Saudi Arabia against the USSR and the indelible semi-final and final match of the Atlanta 1996 between Nigeria versus the dreaded Brazil and Argentina respectively.

These historic come backs are indeed etched in history books. They are all classical cases of 'it is not over yet until it over" and "when there is a will, then there is a way."

Many hearty congratulations Super Falcons. 3 goals within 22 mins is a big feat especially when playing a final game against a hostile host nation.
I don't know about U21 world cup but I remember the Atlanta Olympics pretty well. That game against Brazil was pure miracle, from 2 goals down to level it and win it in the extra time. The Argentina game though... We didn't watch the first half and majority of the second as light no det but they brought the light immediately Nigeria scored that winning goal .

Only if they didn't prepare well.
Haven't you seen things go south after severe preparation and the person have to hope for a miracle
