World Hepatitis Day 2025: "Let's Break It Down" by Dpharmacist(op): 1:36pm On Jul 28, 2025
🩺 As a pharmacist with years of experience at the frontline of care, I’ve seen it all—but hepatitis still breaks my heart.

I’ve dispensed hope in tiny bottles, counselled patients in tears, and watched far too many lives slip through the cracks—not because we don’t have the tools, but because too many people never get the chance to use them.

Its July 28 — World Hepatitis Day 2025

🎯 Theme: "Hepatitis: Let's Break It Down"

🔬 The Truth We Must Face

Despite 304 million people living with chronic hepatitis B and C…

Despite losing 1.3 million people in a single year…

Despite having a vaccine that works, tests that are fast, and treatments that are effective and affordable…

People are still dying.

Why?

Because hepatitis doesn’t just infect the liver—it’s entangled in poverty, silence, stigma, ignorance, and systemic neglect.

💡 So, this year, let’s truly break it down:

Break down the stigma that stops people from seeking help.

Break down the silence around testing and early detection.

Break down the complex systems that make diagnosis and treatment a luxury, not a right.

Break down myths—because hepatitis isn’t a death sentence; it’s a battle we can win with the right tools and timely care.

🗣️ As healthcare professionals, and as a global community, we must demand:

✅ That every baby gets vaccinated at birth—no excuses.
✅ That testing becomes as routine as checking blood pressure.
✅ That no patient is turned away from treatment because of cost or shame.
✅ That community voices rise, not in whispers, but with boldness to advocate for change.

🤝 My Call to You

If you’re reading this, you’re part of the solution. Whether you’re a caregiver, policymaker, student, activist, or just someone who cares—your voice matters.

Let’s stand together and say:

🧬 No more missed diagnoses. No more avoidable deaths. No more shame. Let’s break hepatitis down. Let’s beat it.

Because a hepatitis-free world isn’t a fantasy. It’s possible. It’s within reach.
But only if we act—together, and now.

🖋️ From the heart of a pharmacist who has seen too much and hopes for even more,
Let’s break the chains. Let’s save lives.

Please how does this post help? Are you out to test and treat people having hepatitis because as you rightly said, many factors such as cost of treatment, etc contribute to the spread and severe consequences to the infected persons?
Re: World Hepatitis Day 2025: "Let's Break It Down" by FineUsername(m): 3:21pm On Jul 28, 2025
I think this is an AWARENESS post. And like someone stated above, the OP should include symptoms et al.

Hepatitis C has a cure. Hepatitis B cure is coming soon. There are vaccines to prevent all 3. Hepatitis A, B and C. Make sure you are vaccinated as it can be spread in numerous ways. Most patients live a long life if they eat healthy, exercise and avoid alcohol. Sometimes Hepatitis can be caused by alcohol abuse.

Hepatitis is a serious liver disease caused by inflammation, often due to viral infections. There are five main types of hepatitis viruses: A, B, C, D, and E. Each type has distinct characteristics, modes of transmission, and treatment approaches.

Types of Hepatitis:

Hepatitis A: Transmitted through contaminated food and water, this type usually resolves on its own within two months. Symptoms include fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite. Vaccination is available to prevent Hepatitis A.

Hepatitis B: Spread through blood and bodily fluids, Hepatitis B can lead to chronic liver problems, liver cancer, and liver failure. Vaccination is crucial in preventing Hepatitis B, and it's 95% effective in preventing viral infections and their chronic consequences.

Hepatitis C: Primarily transmitted through blood contact, Hepatitis C can cause chronic liver disease. Treatment involves antiviral medication, and direct-acting antivirals can cure Hepatitis C in most cases.

Hepatitis D: This type requires the presence of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) to replicate and can worsen the effects of Hepatitis B. Preventive measures include vaccination against Hepatitis B.

Hepatitis E: Usually transmitted through contaminated water and food, Hepatitis E is common in tropical regions and developing countries. It's typically acute and doesn't require specific treatment.

Causes and Risk Factors:

- Viral infections (HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV, and HEV)
- Excessive alcohol consumption
- Substance abuse
- Toxic exposure to chemicals or certain medications
- Genetic liver disorders

Preventive Measures:

- Vaccination against Hepatitis A and B
- Practicing safe sex
- Avoiding needle-sharing and substance abuse
- Following proper hygiene and food safety practices
- Using sterile needles and avoiding contact with infected blood

Treatment Options:

- Antiviral medications for chronic Hepatitis B and C
- Supportive care for acute viral hepatitis, including rest, hydration, and symptom relief
- Liver transplant in severe cases
- Avoiding further exposure to toxins or alcohol

By understanding the types, causes, and preventive measures of hepatitis, we can work towards reducing the risk of transmission and promoting public health. On World Hepatitis Day, let's raise awareness about this disease and encourage vaccination, testing, and treatment.

Many people are aware of hepatitis. How can people manage and completely cure infected persons already?

I know of a company that conducts tests against hepatitis for staff periodically but don't take care of any staff found to be infected. Instead, such staff(s) is quietly dismissed to go and take care of themselves without payoff or anything. How can these awareness lead to real solution for those already infected but are unable to manage it due to medical costs and more

Hepatitis is dangerous but curable with the aid of extensive medications.
Some traditional herbs work very fine.

But poverty is worse, most ailments in Nigeria kill due to high rates of poverty

I'm suffering with hepatitis B, from the tests that I did in the lab it's said to be chronic but so far so good, I'm doing fine.

I don't know if there's any other drug(s) that I can take that will completely get rid of it.. so far, I'm just on livolin and tenofovir.

I've been seeing this on Facebook, I don't know how effective it's.

Exactly. Hepatitis needs more awareness and unlike HIV AID there is hope.

That is why I am asking if there is real solution which is managing and curing it. If for instance, there's a location that either government or NGOs has designated for testing and treating it, then we can all agree with the essence of the awareness. Once you attach the location, you will see the MANY people that I am talking about.

Once you take your medications well your viral load will be very low and even reach a point of undetectable.

Just take care of your liver well.

THE QUESTIONED PRODUCT: Liv T-550 (Herbal Supplement)

Label Claim: “Liver wellness, hepatitis B solution”

My Analysis :

This product is not approved by NAFDAC, FDA, or WHO as a curative or primary treatment for hepatitis B.

It is a herbal supplement, likely containing liver-protective herbs (e.g., milk thistle, dandelion, turmeric), which may support liver health but do not eradicate the virus.

The claim "hepatitis B solution" is medically misleading unless backed by peer-reviewed clinical trials, which this product lacks.

Liv T-550 cannot literally cure hepatitis B, and there's no current peer reviewed herbal product that can. It may be used in addition to, but never instead of, antiviral therapy.

So you can use it together with your current medication.

I don’t know when it has been in my system . I did the test for the first time when I was in 100level. So I guess it must have been there before then.

I heard some people are just carrier though. My viral load has always been low

About 17 years ago when they first notified me through hospital test that I have hepatitis B, even tho I'm doing very fine, infact apert from the test, I have no evidence that show I have hepatitis B, sometimes I even doubt if I really have it.
Have taken some Chinese drugs like that, but still under go some tests last year and they said it's still their.
please can you recommend any effective working traditional herbs for me.
