Five Uniport Students Die In Accident On Their Way To Campus (Video)

At least five people reported to be students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) have been killed in a tragic road accident, NC BLOG Reports.

The accident occurred on Monday, July 28, along the Eliozu–Rumuokoro Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to reports, a shuttle bus conveying the students rammed into a stationary trailer.

Videos from the scene show uniformed officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC removing bodies from the accident scene and placing in a van.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement or the identities of the victims.

The government should consider regulating or banning these new Keke buses. Many of the drivers are former Okada and Keke riders who have simply transitioned to a larger vehicle without proper training. It's unacceptable that one would crash into a stationary trailer especially on a dual carriageway, where there's no excuse involving oncoming traffic.

If you are a driver please mind your speed.

There should be legislation against unnecessary parking on the road.

This is so sad. After all these years of struggling with school with the hope of a better future 😭.

How unfortunate, looking at the damage on the bus, it is obvious the driver was moving at a high speed, the faster you go, the higher your chances of losing control, God rest their souls.

This is a very tragic incident.

Absolutely, poor vision, poor headlights, bad wipers, driver drunk 🤷

No single day in Nigeria that we'll not hear of death either banditry or herdsmen or kidnappings to death, cultism and spouses killing each other plus accidents and rituals.

I was waiting for this kind of comment. While I thank God I’m alive today to reply you. I have had same accident 2years ago with my car.

Those packed trucks are invisible in the night. And they don’t take caution on places those caution signs on their trunks when they re left parked illegally. Verify very well, this particular accident happened in the night

Blame the driver.
Blame the truck owner.
Blame the agencies who are supposed to be responsible for enforcing parking laws.
You'll see a truck parked on a lane without any signs that it's parked.
Any small glare in the driver's eye and you may not even notice that the vehicle is parked.
Before you realize it, the vehicle has already rammed into the truck.
And some drivers will be driving as though they have a spare life at home.
Some even drunk and others absent minded, thinking of the numerous problems waiting for them at home.

Overspeeding was found to be the cause. Where he was running to, I've no idea.

One of the reasons I wish I could always drive myself to anywhere. Driver don waste these ones.

Every agency in Nigeria is very docile. Will this be investigated so that it will be prevented in the future? A lot of issues with driving in Nigeria, breaking traffic rules should be similar to attempted murder attracting stiff punishment. I think I saw a recent report about Nigeria being in the top 10 for unsafe driving? If the government is serious this report should be taken very seriously.

Too much speed in addition to poor vision from the driver. The caution triangle was placed on the body of the stationary truck, but it is a small compared to the body of the truck. Exactly the same way, Dagrin died. May their souls rest in peace.😢😢

That's why people should always caution their driver when ever they notice reckless driving. Majority of these drivers will take alchohol and some times with hard drugs first thing in the morning
