"Blessing’s friends, who spoke to Daily Trust on Monday, July 28, said the deceased was rushed to different hospitals after the attack but she was allegedly denied immediate treatment because of the absence of a police report." Common sense is for the doctors to stabilize her first before asking for such report |

sleek214:It is the system, if there is no enforcement, the people will not comply. One thing is to make the law available and another thing is to make it work. Until they start arresting and prosecuting management of hospitals on this issue it won't stop. If a victim is brought, let treatment start immediately while the management inform their security to invite the police so they can come and see then give the report. We make things difficult when it is a simple issue |

One of the friends, who did not want her name in print mentioned, said the NSCDC officer lost her life because she had lost so much blood before she was attended to at a Hospital where she was later confirmed dead. What the heck is this? I mean, how can an hospital denied a stabbed victim of treatment because of absence of police report? and the hospital is not burnt to ashes or it's license to operate revoked? |
| Re: NSCDC Officer, Blessing Akpan, Stabbed To Death In Front Of Her House In Abuja by Olu1000: 11:47am On Jul 29, 2025 |
Adexvivacity:Those hospitals that rejected her due to police reports and the “medical professionals” who insisted on police reports should be prosecuted! The establishments should be closed and their owner barred from ever operating medical facilities and the medical professionals barred from practicing and jailed ! They are culpable in her death ! |
| Re: NSCDC Officer, Blessing Akpan, Stabbed To Death In Front Of Her House In Abuja by RillJ(m): 11:47am On Jul 29, 2025 |
The first priority for the medical sector and every reasonable being is to save life first. If you are suspicious call the nearest Police station immediately. Even an armed robbery suspect can be handcuffed and leg-chained to the bed while being treated and where required, detail armed officers to be on guard. Its so barbaric that in 2025, we aid death with the excuse of 'Police Report'. If the medical director's son/daughter was rushed in in such condition will him/her go and process 'Police Report' first before treatment. Where is even the Nigeria law that makes it illegal to treat a victim of knife-cut without Police Report? Someone should please take this up and sue the hospital, join the Police and the Nigeria Medical Council as well. Enough of avoidable death to which many of us are willing and unwilling accomplices. May her soul rest in peace. |

This is really sad. The level of poverty, youth idleness and drug abuse is alarming. This lady life was cut short because a junkie needed another hit. Drugs abuse every where, from the poor, rich, elites ,some traditional rulers (ie the imam from Iwo), security agencies etc. The NDLEA is trying but sadly not doing enough. Back in the days it was mainly Igbo (weed) and at that it was never consumed in the open Fast forward today it's a diffrent story. |

Adexvivacity:nigeria is against its own citizens. Start a business the government will try to frustrate. Even at the point of death she was denied by Nigerian law that is applicable to only the poor. Those who refuse to treat forget that they will also die one day |

sleek214:I am sorry it's not the people's; it's government's fault. You can't make a law and not enforce it. People in power are not perturbed because it doesn't affect them. You see how quick Nigeria switched to the current national anthem, that's how efficiently we expect the government to react in this sort of situation. Every life matters!!! |

SeraphicWind:Uber isn't easy and you might work a whole week just for the mechanic. [/b]Minus fuel and other expenses, there is no way they won't go home with daily 10,000 which is still good money to some extent. But no. These criminals will rather take the short cut that will lead their souls to hell under the manipulation of the devil. They prefer the fast way of taking peoples lives and hitting 50k very fast in the shortest time possible. To you reading this, be extremely careful of how you spend your life on earth. Forget all these cruise humans catch on earth. There are DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES for every bad actions. If you must sale your soul to the devil for money, make sure you are getting enough money. At least, let it be that the money counts in exchange for your soul. After earth, straight to hellfire. Look at Nigerian politicians and learn.[/quote] |

BadNews:Asking for a police report before you attend to a security personal? I think the NSCDC management should take this up and file cases against the hospitals involved, when will all this nonsense stop for crying out loud hospitals are treatment centers for the prevention of death and no killing venues, if the government don't do something about this now it will continue to lead to the loss of innocent lives, trauma centers in hospitals can't be asking for police report when its this so glaring, are they suspecting she is a member of a gang of rubbers, kidnapers or bandits, please those hospitals must be made to answer questions. |
