Adexvivacity:They have said there is no need for such reports. I am sure police have dealt with them horribly because of that report . Avoidable deaths are so common in Nigeria . If government is serious or the health minister , make those hospitals compensate the victims handsomely . If 3 hospitals refuse to at least stabilize such a patient because of report , all of them should be forced to pay the family handsomely . Charge each hospital 40 million each and freeze their accounts . And if it is government hospital , govt should pay the victim and the CMD must resign ! |

Officers should be well trained on physical combatant should they come under attack. She could have dislodged them and kill one of them. |

jaxxy:The bottom line is resource management. These medical centers are too poor to take cases upfront, period. We need to take a wholistic look at the healthcare system which is a struggle even in advanced countries. The health insurance industry needs to be overhauled to make it viable and sustainable while the government needs to improve the economy so people can afford qualitative healthcare. |

Nigeria is a failed nation I swear to God. Our leaders are very disappointing. A country anything goes. Commit crime go Scot free. There should be a death penalty for any medical personnel that request for police report before treatment. What kind of country is this for crying out loud. It is her today. It could be you or me tomorrow |

Bobbynobobby:Not supporting any institution but she came with heavy blood loss. In my little knowledge and experience as an observer most hospitals don't have a blood bank for starters. Blood products are sourced independently and payed for in cash. So where do you start from. How do you run effective emergency medicine when the factors are just not there. |

Those daft doctors and nurses on duty should lost their certificates. The Government has said this over and over again that hospitals should treat people with bullet wounds without police report but this hasn't been adhered to. who the hell even made that a prerequisite in the first place? |

sleek214:The system is the problem sir. You have a system where laws are not adequately enforced, and the law enforcers are even the ones frustrating or breaking the laws. One of the major problems in Nigeria is inadequate law enforcement. |

Nigerian Leaders and citizens are mercilessly brutal. Let us change, if not, this country cannot be great. Those emergency staff are very callous. Rest in Peace. |

Why did police even start this police report of a nonsense in the first place. Nigeria and her troubling systemic issues. I think there should be a punishment metted to any hospital that rejects a victim with the excuse of this police report nonsense. I feel so pained. May her soul rest in peace |

We have been telling you for years that we the people are the problem and the leaders are from among us. A law was made yet we the people say no, it must be our way. RIP to the dead as we the people continue to fool each other and twist our interpretation of a sane clime. |

MarketDispatch:They don't need to call anything. The IGP, should write to all the health care providers, in his letter head, and hand-signed saying the Police will NEVER go to a medical practice to harass them when they take accident/gunshot/knife wound patients. He should, on documented police communication channels, radio EVERY police post, every Division and area command, that they MUST NOT go after any medical practice that treats these category of people. He should provide a means where any such harassment can be reported directly to him. Police talk too much about medical practices not needing police report. It's like the way they also say bail is free. |

sleek214:The problem is with the system. When you make a law, there must be a specific punishment attached to it, and then there must be a very strong enforcement. That is how to run a successive society |
| Re: NSCDC Officer, Blessing Akpan, Stabbed To Death In Front Of Her House In Abuja by airsaylongcome: 1:16pm On Jul 29, 2025 |
seunjungle1:And medical practices (which are businesses) is where your power of protest reach? Have you protested against the politicians that have eaten your future and those of your children unborn? Do you know how many medical practices police have harassed for treating injured people despite this so-called "law"? Arrest the Medical Director, or shutdown the practice for days? Abeg go siddon. Protest against your politicians first. Then we will know you are serious |

This country a law should be passed to stop this issue of not attending to patients except there is police report to save lives. Is becoming too much.May God help this country. |

Friend22:Believe me, "jailing" doctors for avoiding police wahala is way better than them running into the the wahala. Do you know what these medics see in the hand of police when they treat without police report? Go and find out. Then you will understand why they self-preserve by asking for the police report. Arrest all the doctors in Nigeria is you like, they will continue to demand for police report. Police know what to do if they want doctors to stop this "habit" |

sleek214:Am not supporting this hospital and its staff. I would love to see them lose their license and possibly be sent to jail, but the truth is, Nigeria is a sick hole filled with leaders who are dumb and worse than cows. How can anyone make that kind of law in the first place? For one, you are not in those hospital shoes to know the ordeal they have been through with the Nigerian police in the past when they attended to gunshot victims without a police report. I heard police used to harass them, lock them up, and even extort huge sums of money from them all because they tried to save lives. Even these NSCDC people are not innocent either; only God knows this woman may have harassed hospitals in the past for this same kind of stuff. Now she is a victim of the wicked law she most likely promoted. b3llo:But a lot of police men will still be using it to extort innocent hospitals who just want to save lives. You don't know how Nigeria is again. The court just ban FRSC from confiscating people's driver's licenses,s but you will still see a lot of FRSC people still seizing people's driver's licenses. The CRM police extract the court vacated sometime ago, are police officers not still using it to extort police from drivers? The best thing in this country is for lawmakers to think hard before passing any bill into law, because our police officers always like enforcing laws that will put money in their pockets. When that useless lawmaker was chasing this bill in the National Assembly that year ,I was one of those people criticizing the bill and the untold death it would bring to Nigerians, but no one heard my voice,e so many useless citizens supported it, and now it is like a bone in our neck. |

BadNews:All these senators talking about unnecessary state creation should as a matter of urgency enact a law establishing state police. These killings should stop. The UN just declared July 7th each year as world Amotekun in a recorgnition of life saving efforts of the group with Certificate. Imagine the improvement that would occur if we truly make our security architecture local. https://independent.ng/un-declares-july-7-global-amotekun-day/ |
