This is so painful. Just wondering what the motive of her assailant is.

Those daft doctors and nurses on duty should lost their certificates.
The Government has said this over and over again that hospitals should treat people with bullet wounds without police report but this hasn't been adhered to.
who the hell even made that a prerequisite in the first place?
Government also said police have no right to search your phone. Or to demand for money during bail. When police demand to search your phone (despite the "government making laws against it"wink, can you tell me which arm of government you will call to your rescue? While at that, can you tell the medical practices which government agent they should call after police has arrested the Medical Director?

We have been telling you for years that we the people are the problem and the leaders are from among us.

A law was made yet we the people say no, it must be our way.

RIP to the dead as we the people continue to fool each other and twist our interpretation of a sane clime.
Were you people not around when the law was made? We all knew when this law was been made, and yet we all did nothing about it. Now it is biting us deeply. Trust me, the publicity before this law was made is much more than now when it was banned. And you know our police officer will always do what will put money in their pocket. If you carry an injured victim to them, to get the police report, you must pay money, and now that it was banned, it means no one will come to them again for their report, hence they will not make that money again. I can tell you for a fact those doctors are just scared because if they treat the victim with a police report and the police find out, they will come and harass the doctors and all the hospital staff, even arrest them and label them as accomplices in aiding armed robbers. They have been doing it and still doing it till today.

They don't need to call anything. The IGP, should write to all the health care providers, in his letter head, and hand-signed saying the Police will NEVER go to a medical practice to harass them when they take accident/gunshot/knife wound patients. He should, on documented police communication channels, radio EVERY police post, every Division and area command, that they MUST NOT go after any medical practice that treats these category of people. He should provide a means where any such harassment can be reported directly to him.

Police talk too much about medical practices not needing police report. It's like the way they also say bail is free.
You're right, this is what the IGP needs to do, but unfortunately, they will never do it because they think it is of no benefit to them, until the citizens decide to protest, they will not do anything. very docile set of people. They are looking for an avenue to collect money only.

DanseMacabre:
It's crazy that even a security operative would be denied life-saving first aid because of lack of 'police report'. In saer climes, even violent criminals' lives would be saved first and foremost, before any further investigation occurs.

Nigeria is definitely another planet's hellfire.
You have seen it na, Nigeria is not a sane clime.

Untill we start jailing some doctors or closed down hospitals for neglecting their primary duty it won't stop!

I kept saying an average Nigerian is a reflection of the leaders we have at the centre.

Untill followers are made to sit up things will not change.
Do you know how much harassment they have endured from so-called police officers because of this same police report? If you are close to them, then you will know, even after the police report thing has been banned. What I keep saying is that there shouldn't have been a law like that in the first place.

You have seen it na. That useless House of Representatives member who passed this bill in the first place, I do not know what was going through his mind at that time. We obviously have the worst and dumbest people amongst us ruling us, it's a shame to say the least.

So they think they have gotten away with this atrocity?

All these people that kill humans for worldly belongings, sorry is your last name after your earthly sojourn smiley smiley

I mean, come to think of it.

If not demons at work, why will you exchange a living thing for a non living thing?

The bag they snatched, how are they sure it even has money or any valuables? How much kwanu? 1 week flexing max!

And you physically killed a human being for that? Nna mehn. People self.

Wasted a soul just like that.

Ironically, whatever they robbed can be made legally through hard or even little work.

Let us even assume there was 50,000 naira in the bag. (Whch is highly impossible).

If these criminals go and learn driving, start uber work in Abuja and work minimum of 5 hours daily, they can make far more than 50,000 naira in 1 week. I heard some drivers gross 30k daily working 8 hours.

Minus fuel and other expenses, there is no way they won't go home with daily 10,000 which is still good money to some extent.

But no. These criminals will rather take the short cut that will lead their souls to hell under the manipulation of the devil.

They prefer the fast way of taking peoples lives and hitting 50k very fast in the shortest time possible.

To you reading this, be extremely careful of how you spend your life on earth. Forget all these cruise humans catch on earth. There are DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES for every bad actions.

If you must sale your soul to the devil for money, make sure you are getting enough money. At least, let it be that the money counts in exchange for your soul. After earth, straight to hellfire.

Look at Nigerian politicians and learn.
You said something about exchanging a living thing with a non living thing.

But you exchange money )non living thing) for goats, chickens cows etc. are they not living things.

There is a lack of trust between the police and the medical community. Forget about those laws passed, be a medical personnel first before you judge. Police never show you pepper. sad We are talking about day to day encounters, not some written law that police does not acknowledge.

Do you know how many hospitals have been in trouble over this matter? In cases like this, it is better to run to a nearby chemist and be attended to by a skilled 'quack' who cares more about saving your life for good money than running to a hospital that fears police shenanigans. Going to a licensed hospital in this case is a very long shot. Many of them have terrible experiences with police.

It will take an executive order by the president to change this dilemma. If the president can issue the order, then everyone will follow. Relying on some NASS enactment is a long thing.

It sad how we keep going over this police report of a thing. The National Assembly has passed a Bill that allows hospitals to attend to gunshot injury and other life threatening injuries whilst waiting for a police report But Doctors and Hospitals are still rejecting patients..... I think the problem is not the system but the people, we are annoyingly strange in this part of the world.
Exactly, the National Assembly have longed pass the bill into law, but so unfortunate that many useless hospitals still demand for a police report before they attend to an accident victim.
More reasons such hospitals must be charged.
Nigeria is a very useless country where even the Institution's do not obey the laws.

The worsen part of the situation is that of hospitals that said they need police report before they can attend to her.
There are some situations in Nigeria that need immediate and harsh protest to checkmate and correct those situations.

Those hospitals should be shutdown for like six months...this will send a strong warming to others.
May gentle soul rest in peace.
I taught there is a bill that proscribe such. Wass it not signed into Law?

I still find it funny that a hospital/clinic or whatever are still asking for a police report before attending and administering proper treatment to a victim in emergency need of saving her life......

The FG through PBAT and Presidency, National Assembly(FG and State), NPF through the IG and State CPs dont want to address these issues and put a permanent stop to it.

I still find it strange that Doctors still do this nonsense and no human rights lawyer have taken this issue against a notable hospital and caused them to be shut down.

The govt and the police have said it time and time again that no hospital should ask for police report before treating anyone , the National assembly has passed a motion to that effect yet Nigerian medical personnel still insist on police report

It's such a sad situation.
Our law enforcers are culpable in the way things turn with the manner they treat volunteers or helpers/medics who render help to victims like this unfortunate lady.

Wacky laws. Is there any other country that uses this pattern of no treatment of injury without police report?
In this case she wasnt shot with gun but attacked with a common weapon - knife.
Re: NSCDC Officer, Blessing Akpan, Stabbed To Death In Front Of Her House In Abuja by ElSudani: 3:30pm On Jul 29, 2025
How I wish Nigerians are allowed to carry small concealed guns to protect themselves. The death rate will rise sharply and then subside leaving mostly people care about living.
If you want to die because of a stupid phone or purse then go ahead. If kidnapping is your thing, be my guest.
Nigerians should have the option to protect themselves. That is the first law of nature.

Corruption and lawlessness is destroying Nigeria. Drs are insisting on police report cos the Nigeria police is a defective system full of corrupt officials who seize every opportunity to milk people of cash. If that was not the case, Drs wouldn't be afraid to treat patients. I mean, of what importance is a police report for a stab victim? It's because the Nigeria police officers are like vultures ready to pounce on anyone if there is the slightest chance of getting a penny out of them is why this evil "rejection until police report is provided" syndrome will keep recurring.
Anyways, the best way to counter is to sue those hospitals for negligence. Maybe when a few hospitals face the music others will start treating emergency classes while waiting for police report

Do not flash anything expensive in the public, use button phone to make and answer public calls. Reduce all chances to any attack on you. Move in group as a matter of preference, God bless and keep you.

Not supporting any institution but she came with heavy blood loss. In my little knowledge and experience as an observer most hospitals don't have a blood bank for starters. Blood products are sourced independently and payed for in cash. So where do you start from. How do you run effective emergency medicine when the factors are just not there.
OK this is another take. But the hippocratic oath or whatever it is they are sworn to, will rejecting a dying person not mean breaching it directly and fundamentally?

Naturally, Nigerians are evil and annoying people. The only thing is to pray you don't fall into their trap. Same Nigerians would be looting an accident victim instead of helping—very terrible and wicked people. They will do evil, laugh over it and move like it's nothing.
