grandstar:
I doubt Tinubu is the type that won't fulfil such. He is a good manager.
Of course he will fulfil it, there is a reason why Kanu, Okocha and Amokachi supported him at the last elections, President Tinubu is a man of his words.

Also, he must have fulfilled his promise to the Super Eagles as we haven't heard any of them complain since.

I rejoice with the women.

No one is complaining about the girls being rewarded, what they're talking about is the amount being gifted to them, it is too much
For me, that gift isn't just about these set of women alone, it is about those that came before them that were messed about by thieving NFF scoundrels.

Anyway, I think it is just right. Dino Melaye for example has chopulated more than that in his time in politics and what has he and his pot belly done for this country.

The gift big pass the reward

$100k × 23 players = $2.3m
CAF prize money =$1m.

Una sure say Tinubu well like this truly truly?
It's fake. Exaggeration✅

It is too much! A primary school teacher earns #70,000 ($46) a month in this country. You are giving $100,000 to a player for playing for 3 weeks. What will the soldiers, police men and other military officers that receive lower than $100 per month say? Tinibu made a great mistake. Dollar is not our currency but for him to be doing everything in it is not fair to us.
Your opinion is 💯 valid
Re: Tinubu Honours Super Falcons With National Awards, $100,000 Each by Apel147(m): 8:54am On Jul 29, 2025
Your entire argument is flawed and fueled by selective outrage.

First of all, you claim to be “just giving your opinion” — but you showed up in my mentions unprovoked, ranting like your hot take was the gospel. If you truly believe in opinions being respected, practice what you preach.

Secondly, your “concern” about the country being broke is laughable. Since when did you become the Minister of Finance? Or do you apply this logic to all the government’s reckless spendings or just when it involves rewarding Nigerian excellence?

Let’s talk numbers, since you brought them up:

You say the Falcons were already paid. Sure — they earned it.

They got rewarded again? That’s called motivation and national appreciation.

Other countries do the same — go check how Morocco, Ivory Coast, or even South Africa treat their athletes.

You cherry-picked Ivory Coast getting $7m and being rewarded "within range" — but forgot to mention their economy, GDP, or how much they also celebrate their players. You can’t quote figures without context.

Bottom line:
You’re upset that women were recognized and rewarded for making the nation proud. Just say that and go. Don’t hide behind fake economic analysis to mask your bitterness.

franugo:
You're the one wailing and mouthing off in my mentions. I gave my opinion, give yours and let that be that. If you think it's wise to gift almost 4bn to the team after they were already paid bonuses and salaries for the tournament, That's your cup of tea.
FYI, the wafcon tournament prize was $1m, everything Tinubu has given the girls is well over 3 or 4 times that amount. By comparison, Ivory coast won afcon 2023 and got $7m in prize money, and what was given to them was well within range of what the prize money could again.
The country is broke, we keep borrowing, given our 'brokeness', we should make sure that we spend wisely. Only a foolish person borrows to dash others

What honor and glory? Who watches female football? Less than 5% of Nigerians actually watched this tournament. You that is talking, can you name 5 female players of the national team? What honor and glory while majority are hungry and cannot afford fuel to their generators to watch the match. The money is too much.
Which one dey pain you? The amount is too much or that you are hungry and cannot afford fuel to watch the match? Well in case you don't know the tournament was keenly followed by Nigerians as for the huge amount they deserve it so my guy be happy for the girls except you are a sadistic.

I'm sure you've never been called to represent anyone or anything that's why you can say this trash.

It's our money and they brought us glory! Fully deserved!

No one said we shouldn't reward them but the ulterior motive is where we are pointing at. Tinubu IS DESPERATE for any form of achievement to cling to his administration.
The prize money CAF to the Super falcons compared to what Tinubu gave is totally ridiculous.
If you took anytime to Google search, you'll know that several nations reward their sporting heroes sometimes more than what they got at whatever competition.

If he has ulterior motive, we don't know... what we do know is that he rewarded the ladies in a coin well deserved.

Some of my friends while watching the match said they don't want Nigeria to win the tournament cos of the money that will be wasted and stolen just for receiving them. It's well

I simply HATE it when you guys come up with lies in order to justify extremely stupid actions by Tinubu.

Never really saw it that way but I think I agree, there is an element of misogyny in all of this complaining.

A shame. Imagine if it was the Super Eagles that dominated Africa like this, I doubt you will hear the complaints.

I am not poor like you wish. I am against wastage and lack of priority. If that makes no sense to you, of course you'll have something negative to say.

He specifically said naira equivalent of $100k
https://www.nairaland.com/8486572/tinubu-displayed-nairas-worthlessness-100000

I’m a hardcore Tinubu supporter, but he is making serious mistakes I didn’t expect him to make.

Nigeria is neck in debt and instead of having that at the back of his mind, he is showing serious signs of fiscal indiscipline. At a time we are supposed to be prioritizing the Naira, the president is saying ‘dollar equivalent’ on national television. This is not a good example from the commander in chief himself. Someone wrote that speech and advised him to give away $100,000. He should sack that person.
